"Kali has been going to Akron Children’s Pediatrics since she was born. Phenomenal front desk staff and even some of the Physcians Assistants are amazing and very attentive. I used Catherine Symmonds growing up as my PCP, so I recommended her for my daughter! BIGGEST MISTAKE I HAVE EVER MADE! 16 visits in four months, 6 of these visits were for back to back ear infections. Each time, a new antibiotic was given. My daughter has seizures, so compromising her immune system is never my first choice, but doctors know best, right? Wrong. The last time my daughter went in with an ear infection, it gradually got worse and 30 days in she’s on back to back antibiotics doing what? (Compromising her immune system, higher chance of illness/viruses which then leads to cause of seizures.) Last time we went in, I demanded a referral for an ENT (which was granted) because at some point you’d think they’d say “hey she should probably see someone about her ears the antibiotics aren’t working” but nope, never happened. Today Kali had her ENT appointment just to find out she has lost partial hearing due to all these infections that were “being treated.” I’m beyond heartbroken, I spoke to the office manager at Akron Children’s Pediatrics who is contacting someone in their regional office to address this issue to ensure it doesn’t happen to another child. Steer clear of Catherine Symmonds, in my opinion she is too comfortable with her position she neglected my daughter’s needs which resulted in hearing loss. All because they didn’t have my child’s best interest at heart. Malpractice at its finest."
"I can’t say enough good things about this hospital and new location. Dr. Sarah Ayers has always been wonderful. We really like C Stritch CNP, her Energy is awesome and fun with the kids. All the staff front and back has definitely made a lot improvement. The wait time is nothing anymore either. We used to have a long wait time, now it’s in and out within 30 minutes."
"Definitely worth the five stars. Staff is very friendly and doctors are so professional and nice with kids. Being a grad student, it’s hard to find appointments that fit my tight schedule. They always make sure to accommodate me for a suitable time slot. The new app also made it convenient for scheduling appts and getting in touch with medical staff when there are some concerns. Plus, the new building is awesome. Happy to see the staff enjoying it!"
"The front desk staff at the Kent location are almost always incredibly rude. Once someone refused to aknowldege me at all until they were finsished with a personal call. Another time the staff was talking about gardening, saw me, but made me wait until their conversation was over before checking me in. Another time a woman was so annoyed that I was there to pick up a physical form for school that she literally threw the paper at me and snapped “is that it?” When they call about appointments, they sound annoyed and have flat, unfriendly voice intonations. The process of going there for well checks is usually an hour and a half ordeal. Patients are not scheduled efficiently. Dr. Symmonds and some of the nurses are good, but I can’t understand why they would staff their front office with so many rude people, and it’s been this way for years. The clients are made to feel like nuisances. Akron Childrens hospital itself is great, however."
"Wonderful to children with autism. Very patient. Can always get an appointment within a reasonable time. Takes time for each patient. Answers question. Very caring. Not just the doctor but also staff. Love Dr. Symmonds."
