"Will never take my children back here again. Went in for our second set of immunization shots required by state law for our kids (have to get 2 shots within 6 months of each other based on new law). Doctor came into the room for less than 30 seconds (for both kids!), and they charged us $100/kid for the "office visit". Spoke to my insurance company, and if it had just been a nurse to give the shots, the visit would have been 100% covered. Very rude staff said it was their policy to have a doctor look at the kids if it has been more than 6 months (it's 6 months nearly to the day as required for the second shot). The kids had their height, weight and blood pressure taken by a nurse. Absolutely ridiculous! DO NOT GO HERE."
"Beyond done with this practice. I removed my youngest months ago since they were not capable of treating a child with ADHD, and now after 10 years of treating my oldest he was called to Saturday class for school after their hours of operation so I could not call them within 24 hours and cancel the appointment I had scheduled. I called first thing in the morning to reschedule and now am receiving a bill for a no call. They are not understanding of any situations. All of their Dr's do not seem like the know anything other than basic illness treatments. The only Dr they had there that was any good, moved to another state a few years ago."
"River Hills is a great place. We have been taking our kids here for 10 years and have never had any issue. We are always greeted by the staff who have learned our family names. Anytime we have a concern we don't hesitate to call and t hry are able to get us in right away. When we arrive to appointments we are in and out within 20 minutes. We never get time to enjoy the waiting room(not complaining) because as soon as we sit down they are ready for us. Our oldest son was hospitalized at one point and Doctor Otrimbeck did not hesitate to come to the hospital to check him out and talk to the other specialists. He was so nice considering the 2am call he got from us and the hospital at the time. Our new favorite thing about River Hills is they opened one up in Florence that is closer to me."
"We stayed with this practice for years, but after a number of bad experiences, chose to finally make the change. The office staff can be terribly unpleasant at times (with a few exceptions - there are a couple of nice folks that work there). The MAs are abrupt in general. They now insist on a fairly hefty payment upfront if you have a high deducible insurance plan, or your child won't be seen. (I know other groups are doing this as well, so not unique to River Hills, but still...not what I want to deal with when my kid is sick.) We were nickle and dimed on the billing - every little thing had a charge - for example, we had to pay $40 because the doctor simply asked my child if she recognized the color green at a checkup - and insurance wouldn't cover it because it was beyond the normal range of assessments run at a well visit. Dr. Otrembiak seems to have lost his patience with children over the past few years - the last appointments with him were abrupt and almost borderline aggressive. We even had an issue where he berated a pharmacist for calling and trying to resolve medicine issue on our behalf! Most importantly, we called out some issues my daughter had been experiencing at her yearly checkup, and he dismissed them. We followed up with a different pediatrics group who took our concerns seriously and ordered tests - to find out our daughter has a fairly serious disorder that needs treatment at Cincinnati Children's. TOTALLY missed at River Hills. The Nurse Practitioner Rachel Hine is the only reason we stayed for so long - she's great. But, unfortunately the negatives fair outweighed the positives."
