Reviews of Wernle Youth & Family Treatment Center
"i received more trauma than treatment. i do not recommend this facility if you are seeking treatment for mental health. staff are very unprofessional, unethical and unhelpful. although there are very few good staff, the bad outweighs the good by a long shot. one of my teachers i liked, the other one not so much. the staff that i liked, you guys know who you are and i appreciate you, you guys are the only reason that there is a star."
"Made out with a staff member in the laundry room, and my roommate got hit on by a staff member and written notes (roommate was not at all interested) The groups were focused on independent living instead of mental health. The program is 9-12 months, and you see the therapist once a week at most. You'd be better off keeping your kid at home or military school. I don't wanna gross people out but I am not the same after living there. I had to go to court with my lawyer and I on one side and the department of child services on the other. I won."
"This Place was Horrible caused me a lot of problems within myself that I did not have before I went there mostly emotionally and causing me to be angry again and was so bad caused me to take my anger out in the community. I ran from there and now am facing charges that will keep me locked up for a long time I dont blame Wernle on my actions but the fact how they kept me there after seeing that being there only made me worse emotionally and physically. But there was a couple good things like the staff Rachel ,and the supervisor Jason. Other than that I would not reccomend this place at for anyone who is seeking help."
"My daughter is there and I know for a fact that some of the staff is so disrespectful to these kids, but if the kids do it they get into trouble. My daughter tried to tell her counselor what happened on the floor and she immediately told her to be quiet she doesnt want to hear about it cause it's not her job. If she does this for family counseling, how is she treated in individual therapy? There are a few staff that treat these kids with respect, and she looks forward to those days they work. I feel that many of these staff are not trained to handle these kids. I believe that they have to have compassion to work with these kids with these kind of problems. I know my daughter is far from perfect and does cause some problems, but doesnt give the right to the staff to treat them poorly and disrespectfully. They cancel her MD appointment and will not take her and promised me that they would take her to a follow up from a hospital visit and that never happened. Where is the real care for these residents?? A big thank you to the ones that do care and you know who you are. I believe it's time that something needs to be done, starting from the top, education, proper training, to get everyone on the same page and plus stop changing policies keep it same all across. All staff must stick to the policies all day every day and dont be lax one day strict the next, these inconsistencies is confusing these kids and its infair."
"I just got out of Wernle 2 weeks ago 2/13/17 being locked up there for almost a year (11 months). The direct care staff on each unit are great and are really there to help the children. Now on the other hand the higer ups like therapists and case managers are not involved in your treatment as much as the direct care staff or as much as they are suppose to be."
