Reviews of Heartland Behavioral Health
"Hello I was a patient in about 2014 the building overall is a great building inside and outside some of the staff might give the place a bad reputation me and myself I want to apologize to the staff member that I punched because they had me cornered with a big needle and I was coming off of homemade meth and feta mean I was hallucinating. Only thing I have to complain about is some of the medication’s were making me have a stroke some of the meds were being forced."
"I was in for two weeks maybe three almost five years ago. No therapy was provided the doctor onlt saw me every four days. I was kept on the very small unit and was only allowed to color or watch tv. They didn’t want to let me have my Bible cause it was hard cover so mom sent me a new one and they said it was “too nice” they only let me have it cause I promised to keep it on my person at all times. Horrid place. No treatment. I got out Christmas Eve. I will never go back there if I have any day but I was probated by a judge and sent there. Mind you it was almost two hours from my home."
"Although my son seems to be getting better, it's a shame how long he's had to suffer within before he received help. Actually the only reason he is there is due to some legal issue in Mansfield Ohio. Not because I've been seeking help since he was twelve years old, he is now twenty three. This entire state needs a facelift when it comes to mental health care as I was always told that this is a faze. Why not help when we ask for it? Why wait for trouble to come before stepping in. This is partly why I myself am feeling so suicidal lately. They have taken my first born son, my best friend and companion. The staff needs far more than a course for this type of work. Sadly most of them know nothing of the business except for a pay check."
"I only put two stars for them. The atmosphere is so confined but the type of hospital they are it is understood that the patients do need to be protected from hurting others as well as themselves. However, I do think that there should be more kindness given to them on the whole. I have met some very good caregivers there but I have also met some very rude ones too. Several family members have been hospitalized there. Thankfully, I have not and hope I never do have to go there. This facility could benefit by learning from Highland Springs which I consider to be the best psychiatric behavioral health facility that I have encountered. Being able to have a meal with your loved one is great and they seemed to give their patients much more respect and total concern about helping them get back to good mental and physical health again. I have seen some improvement from the past but would love to see more! We definitely need a better psychiatric facility in the Stark County and middle Ohio counties! Mental Illness is now the number one illness in the United States yet it is not given much attention as to public knowledge of it! The public needs to know that the United States statistics of this is higher than ever! Lack of real love in this world and the US is the problem."
"This place is the worst place in the world to send a patient that needs help with mental/psychiatric problems. I was there between Christmas and New Years of 2012. The afternoon staff in my pod was the absolute worst "hospital" staff I have ever dealt with. Olivia shouldn't be employed by this place. The treatment that they supposedly provided was worthless, didn't help one bit. They held me longer than they were legally allowed to, telling me everyday that there was a doctor on his way to see and release me. That never happened, I had to get my "Patient Rights" pamphlet to explain to them that they were holding me longer than allowed and threaten to walk out, even if it did involve the police. I am currently contacting the State of Ohio to start an investigation on the practices, beliefs and treatment of the patients in this facility. Understanding behavioral health is something they will never comprehend. Unfortunately."
