"I had gastric bypass surgery and a hiatal hernia repaired in July of 2020. I couldn’t ask for a better staff. And Dr. Ben Meir was great. I weighed 330 lbs and I’m down to and I’ve maintained 188 lbs for the last two years."
"I had been to the practice twice before and I wasn’t truly ready to make the commitment needed to follow through with the process. At present, I am ready, due to other health issues that have arisen due to my weight. At the end of December 2022 I completed the required webinar and was told that I’d hear from someone in the office within 2 weeks once my benefits were verified. I’ve called three times now and I keep getting the run around! So and so was out of the office for a week, she will call you back, I’ll forward your information to so and so. Blah blah blah….My impression is that they don’t want to waste their time on me again as a patient since I didn’t follow through twice before. I’m going to call one more time and then I’ll look elsewhere. Does it really take this long to verify benefits when I simply made a call to my insurance to get the same info? $15000 max, one surgery per lifetime. This office came very highly recommended. Even if they took me back as a patient, not sure I’d feel completely comfortable since I’m having to keep calling and begging for an appointment. But I’ll give it one final shot and see."
"Very unorganized and unprofessional. Called because my surgeon left and I wanted Dr. Ben to become the surgon for my follow up care from now on. Receptionist had my records sent over and explained once he views my records he will make a descion on if he will take me on as a patient for follow up care or not. Well a month went past had to contact them to see what was going on and was told that a piece of my record was missing so a new request had to be sent. More weeks past heard nothing and contacted them again. They forgot everything that was in process and why they were requesting my records in the first place. They never requested my records the second time until I contacted them. So I had to wait more weeks and contacted them AGAIN to be told they recieved the records and the office manager Shannon would contact me. I was told she would contact me on at least three different occasions and never recieved a call until I contacted them and said "since I haven't been contacted does that mean the doctor doesn't want to take me as a patient?" Then I recieved a call from Shannon that asked if I wanted to be seen for follow up care? I said yes, I explained this from my very first call to the office to set up an appointment to meet the doctor to be seen for follow up care since my surgeon left.. I was told since there are other surgeons at the location I had my surgey he doesn't take on new patients. I explained if I wanted to see those surgeons then I would have never wanted dr. Ben to take over my follow up care, I did not like the options available at my hospital. I also asked if it was clear that my surgeon left and I wanted to see Dr. Ben for follow up care then why go through the entire process of requesting my records twice knowing he would not accept me? I wasted two months of time and all I got was nonchalant, unprofessional, unapologetic "you should see a surgeon at the hospital you got your surgery at." I would like to say I dodge a bullet with this office because if this is how they operate I wouldn't want to be associated with this office anyhow. Thank God."
