"We like Dr. Hellman and the office staff are nice. We are in the vaccine program as well. However, their costs for additional things are incredibly high. We had a dental cleaning (which was quoted higher in price than many other places we quoted, but we wanted to keep her with her vet) that ended with 4 additional teeth pulled (they did not ask) and somehow a total of nearly $800. We had rescheduled everything so that we could keep her with Dr. Hellman and were under the impression that Dr. Hellman would be performing the procedure, but notes reflect that it was someone else entirely. Surprised by the lack of transparency across the board."
"It breaks my heart to post this because the first few times we came here were FANTASTIC. All of the staff adored our dogs; they remembered them by name after only 1 visit, and when I would bring one in they would ask how the other was doing. We'd just moved here from out of state, and the hometown-feel, friendly service and convenient neighborhood location truly was the first soft landing for our family--and that meant the world to us. We bought the $99 "free vax for life" plan for 2 dogs. Our first visits for a checkup, some skin treatment, and heartworm/flea meds for 2 dogs totaled about $900. I figured it was a steep initial investment but it'd pay off over time; however, "time" would only be one visit--the visit I was prompted to schedule via email and was eager to go to since we'd have to go every 6 months to keep the vax deal, and I wanted to keep a close relationship since pup's technically a senior. I literally cannot wrap my head around what the f--- just happened. Our dog, like many dogs at the vet, was anxious from the moment we walked in--which was odd, as he'd never exhibited this behavior there before. He was sitting on my foot, backing us both into a corner (he's 130lbs), panting, ears back, eyes wide--typical anxious dog body language. Dr. made us meet him in the center of the room (which is the right thing to do, so pup doesn't feel cornered), but pup was reluctant. They post signs everywhere saying "we do not treat aggressive animals," but there is a difference between AGGRESSIVE and DEFENSIVE behavior. I told Dr. he was afraid of men. I alerted him when pup's lip started to curl, assuming he would back off and adopt a calmer, more cautious approach, but he didn't. Kept scratching his head roughly, commanding submission and getting in his face. I am NOT someone to make excuses for myself or question accredited, established professionals who invest in continued education (let alone leave a 1-star review for literally anything), but at this point, he's invading the dog's space. Naturally, pup snaps. He doesn't bite, he doesn't draw blood, just gives a warning snap. "NOPE. WE'RE DONE. Get him out of here." I apologize profusely and depart the exam room with my tail between my legs. "Sorry doesn't cut it." I completely respect the 0 tolerance policy and understand that I have some real work to do with pup before our next visit. I walk up to the desk to, I guess, pay/touch base since I had an appointment for my other dog immediately after. "Nope. I don't want your money. Don't ever bring him back here again." We go back and forth between me apologizing that I'd had no idea he'd do that and Dr. antagonizing us. I'm like "ok well do you want the next dog" "NO. Don't bring the next dog. Don't ever come back here again." 10-4. If you have an animal that does not read negative energy in a room or experience negative emotions whatsoever--or is defenseless in their negative emotions--by all means, bring them here. The team is wonderful. Dr. always explained every treatment option very thoroughly, gave us pamphlets, never "pushed" expensive treatment on us, takes heartworm/flea preventatives very seriously--the treatment he pushed hardest on us was 1-2 tbsp of vegetable oil over their kibble, which makes them 0 money. Just know that he might fire you at the drop of a hat if your animal is, you know, an animal."
"Very nice and helpful staff. My guinea pig had a cut in her eye and they were comforting to her and handled her well. They also answered any question without a problem. Will continue to this vet."
"This is VERY IMPORTANT‼️‼️ I personally have never taken my animals here. But my neighbor who has been nothing but loyal to them brought her cat in to be simply spayed. Instead, they declaw her cat WITHOUT HER PERMISSION which is extremely damaging. The cat is traumatized, it was screaming bloody murder. The sweet little old lady who owns the cat is traumatized, and while they took responsibility and were apologetic this is NOT a mistake that should EVER happen. Shame on all of you who allowed this to happen. If I uploaded the video of the cat when it got home it would make everyone sick that a vet would leave a perfectly healthy cat in such conditions."
"Great place to take your pet! I had to take my ferret Misha in to be diagnosed and the doctor and the staff were really great! They were friendly, we didn’t have to wait, and the prices were very reasonable. The vet was very down to Earth and didn’t charge us for anything unnecessary. He was straight forward, honest, and got straight to the point. I would recommend this place to anyone that wants good quality care for their pet."
