Meridian Health Services Convenience Care at IU Jay County Hospital

"I took my son yesterday to be seen for a cough and fever, as we go in the nurse proceeded to take my sons weight and height and then right after that she said now we are going to give him a covid test and pulled out a swab, my son is 5, and naturally he got scared because he didn't understand what that would entail and began crying and refusing to let her swab, I tried reasoning with my son and explaining that it doesn't hurt. Instead of the nurse talking sweetly to my child she began making fun of him and then to my absolute shock she grabbed him by the hands and legs and demanded that I hold him down. At this point I interfered and asked her if this test is mandatory. Which she finally told me it wasn't but was obviously extremely annoyed that I was refusing it. And told not me, but my child that if he has covid it will be his fault that other children get it and if the doctor comes in and says he needs one then we will HAVE to do it, which is completely untrue. I held my tongue through all of this, she then proceeded to try to take his tempature, and naturally because this women was being so aggressive my son in fear pushed her hand away and she said to him " for heaves sake, I'm just taking your tempature!!! Come on!" As if a 5 year old has any idea what she is doing to him, because she failed to tell him what was going to happen each time she did anything. I couldn't believe how awful she was with my child. Thankfully the doctor we saw was wonderful and very kind to my son, and the first thing she did when she came in was ask his permission if he wanted to get a covid test and when he said no because he was scared she said that's absolutely fine it's completely up to you. The doctor was wonderful, the nurse was terrible someone needs to teach her etiquette with children!! Honestly I wouldn't take my child there again."

"I went here 06/13/23 at approximately 6:30pm got right in and was told that my wound was more than they could handle and that I would need to see a wound specialist.Then told me dont worry we won't charge you for this visit. Then when I asked for antibiotics /antibiotic cream , or antibiotic shot , "it won't work ". Was given no referral , other than we can't help you go somewhere else , didn't even clean or treat my wound . I signed all paperwork I have active insurance. Can a place like this refuse to treat?"

"Went in because my stomach was hurting. She didnt take my name. Just told me to go to the ER. I said i was hoping to just get seen since their lobby was empty and the ER was full. She then got another woman to come out and tell me “mam do you need me to walk you to the ER” i said no and left. They didnt ask my name. Didnt ask anything. The second i said i was there because my stomach hurt they didnt want to help at all. Then i waited in the ER for 8 hours to be sent home with the same test done (a simple blood draw) they told me the meridian clinic could have easily done. With an empty lobby they still didnt have time to help. Highly unrecommended."

"Only went to this office due to limited options. Didn’t tell me basic flu/strep tests were $50 a piece. Insurance refused to pay for them also. Sent me a bill of $90 that they wanted paid within two weeks after receiving the statement. It was 4 months after original visit until they waited to bill me. They said I owed nothing on the day of the visit with my insurance. They are a bunch of thieves. Next time I’ll just croak before going here again. IU Health and Meridian Health services are a joke."

"Went in for a foot injury. Nurse practitioner spent 2 minutes with me, asked me what I thought was wrong with it (if I knew I wouldn’t be here), and never even touched me—simply looked at my foot for 5 seconds. Came back with ‘it’s not broken’ and nothing else. So unhelpful, no bedside manner, and then got an expensive office visit for nothing."
