Reviews of Meijer Pharmacy
"There are some good people working at this pharmacy, and I believe most of them do the best they can. But I am writing this review to validate several of the other reviews related specifically to their phone service. Since I began keeping track this past March, they have not answered the phone 85.5% of the time. Interestingly enough, if I call from a number I have never used before, like a work extension, they have answered it 7 out of eight times since March. The latter is the only time I have ever been put on hold, which is fine. Let me stress... being put on hold is fine. It's great. It's expected. The problem is, with the former I was never put on hold once. Instead it would just ring and ring until cut off. I know my caller ID comes up for them with my name, because there have been times I have called and they knew it was me without having to say who I was. I have on 2 occasions called the main store customer service number, in order to please walk over to make sure they are open with working phones. I received instructions that when it just rings and rings, that I am to just keep calling. Ok, well that really hurt that percentage above, as I counted each time it rang until cut-off as an unsuccessful attempt. The max amount of continuous time I have called to let it ring was just under 40 minutes. I am in the unfortunate position of having to call almost every month. I have to call not to ask long pointless questions I could get answered elsewhere, but because one of my medical providers will only send over digital copies of a 30 day prescription on the date of my visit. If the date of the visit is not the same as the fill date, I have to call to get it filled. This is true of any pharmacy. I have explored options to prevent me having to fall, but was told on 2 different occasions that calling is my only option. On one occasion, I did get a tech (not currently employed) being very rude with me, asking why I was not just using the app. I tried to explain to tech "first name started with J" that is is a NEW script. Every month it is technically a NEW script. Not a refill. New. NOT refill. NEW!!!! I can't use the app! I have to call! It sucks! I wish I didn't have to. Oh (*insert expletive rant of choice), I wish I did not have to call!!!!!!!!!!!! With all this being said, it has been suggested by some 3rd parties that it is malicious. I do not believe it is. But due to the caller ID, I do believe I am not a priority. Something along the lines of the employees thinking, "I'm busy, ohh it's just that guy that calls every month, he'll call back." Except he's busy too! Often calling on a brief break at work! I do not like to blame people, but systems. Something about their current phone system is broken. Again, if I was just calling for questions that can wait, it sucks, whatever. But I am calling to get a necessary medication, for managing multiple sclerosis, filled, on the date my doctor wants it filled, Where calling or showing up in person is my only option. (The latter is not an option on some work days.) So anyway, blame systems, not people, and here's my question: Why can't the phones be set up the way they are at most placed of professional business, where if they are not pickup up after a time, it does not cut you off, but instead automatically puts you on a hold? I am fine with being on hold! I'll sit on hold a long time. I don't care. I'll put it on speaker and do something else. But calling over, and over, and over, is just not realistic. Or can the app be set up to fill new digital scripts in their system? I just want a solution to this monthly headache."
"My experience with them is that they are not as efficient as they should be. I get text notifications when I’m due for a refill that tell me I have prescriptions ready, but they’re not really ready because if I don’t call in and tell them I need refills, they don’t have my prescriptions ready. So basically the system can tell me I need my prescriptions, but doesn’t tell them? Also, there have been several times I have called my scripts in and been given a time frame in which I can come get them, and then I make the half hour drive up there, and they act like they never even knew that I have called them in at all. According to them, this is due to being entirely too busy while simultaneously being severely understaffed. Still, excuses don’t fix the fact that they could improve somewhere in their operation to get better results."
"As a medical provider, I expect basic courtesy and professionalism from the pharmacy. However, 9/28/23 my staff and I called numerous times for a patient waiting in their store IN PAIN only to be hung up on repeatedly. When informing the store manager, David, he also hung up. Worst pharmacy in my 23 year career."
"Incredible staffs! Technicians and Pharmacist are friendly, caring and very helpful. They go out of their way to help you. I highly recommend Steve, especially Caleb to you. Brilliant service."
