Reviews of Hoxworth Center
"Misty in Labor & Delivery provided some of the worst possible conditions and experience for my wife who waited hours past her scheduled time. Lazy and incompetent."
"Dr. Courtney Ohlinger is a saint! She is very kind, thorough, and caring. Would highly recommend her!"
"Hoxworth came to my work and did a blood donation bus today. It was my first time donating and I was excited to finally do it because I had been wanting to for a while. Below is my detailed experience. Andrew was so kind when checking/registering me in. I didn't feel nervous at all and he was a great conversation-holder. Once finally in the chair, I was ready for my nurse (who was also SUPER sweet) to put the needle in. She did a fantastic job - it barely pinched. I do not have a fear of needles, I just don't like seeing them go in sideways, so I looked away during that part. She continuously checked on me until halfway through I told her I was getting lightheaded. She turned on the fan and told me to move/kick my feet, but I started seeing black. I said this right before I put my head back and passed out. I had never, in my life, passed out or fainted. I woke up to her bandaging my arm and practically mothering me to make sure I was okay. To me, it felt like I took a peaceful nap, though I'm sure it was mere seconds for everyone else. I also woke up sweating to the point where I was concerned I soiled myself (TMI, I know). Luckily I hadn't, and the kind staff put cold wet towels on my face and throat as I came to my senses more and more. The towels definitely helped in this area. I had what I consider a full, standard meal for lunch (about 500 calories) and a very sugary iced latte for my breakfast drink (300+ calories) but I guess it wasn't enough. I tend to have low blood sugar and didn't even consider this when donating, so I think that contributed as well. Regardless, the staff took SUCH good care of me until I felt better! I wish I could remember the woman's name that tended to me. She knows who she is. Thank you, kind soul! I haven't been to the physical location but I highly recommend this donation bus. And if you're asking if I'd do it again, my answer is yes. Though next time I'll make sure to eat more sugar/carbs before donating AND to inform the staff of my chance of syncope."
"Got a same day appointment. The doctor didn't listen to my concerns at all. They do the bare minimum. Also the nurses at the lab station are so catty especially the short blonde haired one. And the instructions they give you for the lab are very confusing. They had me put my sample in an open room in the sink that had someone in it getting their blood drawn. ? This seems unsanitary, unsafe and concerns me due to lack of privacy."
"I was up all night because of severe weather and flooding in the area Sunday night / Monday morning and called as soon as the office opened to reschedule my appointment with dermatology. The receptionist said because I'm a new patient, they may not allow me to reschedule. Ever. At all. I will be banned from the practice, effectively, because of one late cancellation. When I said that seems intense the lady said "we don't take same day appointments so cancelling means you're taking the appointment from someone else and leaving a gap in our schedule." Ok I... Didn't make your scheduling policies, most offices have wait-lists for this reason. Anyway, I do not recommend this office, they are super inflexible and honestly kind of rude."
