"High expectations, highly disappointed. We've always wanted to try White Oak and thought my mother's 81st birthday would be the perfect time. Unfortunately, we left feeling disappointed. There were 9 in our party, two of our friends had visited White oaks years ago, it was the first time for the rest of us. Meg. B was our server who from the beginning, seemed very disengaged which was Weird for a fine dining establishment. She was sure to push the $7.99 per bottled of beer each time she returned to the table though. A young man brought over one basket of delicious bread, one tiny slice per person with no offer of more after we complimented how good it was. Salads were brought out; our server, Meg B. walked away not realizing she completely my daughters salad. We flagged down a food runner to get our server's attention to bring out the last salad which came out when the rest of us were nearly finished. Three of us ordered the Prime rib special.($20 more than a chain restaurant for a 12oz) We were extremely disappointed. There was absolutely no flavor, no seasoning very bland. Honestly, we've had better prime rib at chain restaurants. The twice baked potatoes seemed like they had been frozen. Again, our server completely forgot my daughter's dinner. Meg B. never came to check on us after the dinners were delivered by the food runner and again, we had to get the food runners attention. After about 15 minutes, no apologies, just her pasta dinner brought to the table by the food runner after most of us were nearly finished. Unacceptable! Meg B handed us our bills with handwritten in blue ink at the top, the gratuity she expected. Very unprofessional. We are usually great tippers, 25% or more for great service. Out of respect, we left the demanded 18% which was not earned in our opinion. We had such high expectations for this establishment and sadly, we were disappointed. For the money, I would not recommend White Oak. Date of visit: February 2024"
"We’ve come to white oaks before and it’s been good! Last night we went there for dinner and it was absolutely terrible. We shared a beef Wellington and added on a side salad, the small side salad was $9 which is steep for a side salad. The beef Wellington can only be ordered Medium rare, which is great that’s how it should be prepared. We were served a grey mid well beef Wellington which is embarrassing for a “fine dining restaurant” when we asked the server if we could get a new one she instantly said I have to grab my manager. Manager comes over and says “can I help you?” As if he had no idea what the issue was, Extremely unprofessional. I said we just want a medium rare beef Wellington please, he was shocked the server didn’t just fix it to begin with. He comes back and serves our new beef Wellington on tiny side plates. Embarrassing. I was done eating, and my wife was still actively eating her meal as the server Jenn asked me if I was finished with my vegetables and I said yes I am, then she proceeded to also take my wife’s vegetables and twice baked potato as she was clearly still eating, and quickly walked away. My wife tried to get her attention but didn’t want to yell in the restaurant so evidently, she had to finish her beef without it’s accompanying sides. As for the atmosphere usually love the cozy feels here, but made a reservation days in advance and we were stuck in a room to the side with no guests besides one large party. We just got married, and were trying to celebrate with a romantic dinner. Unfortunately didn’t get the nice feel we have experienced in prior visits. We are super bummed, this place is not the same as we used to experience it."
"Outstanding food and service. Our party of four were seated next to the window overlooking the terrace. The waiter was informative and engaging, which helped make it fun. Our drinks were all mixed to perfection. Escargot was breathtakingly good. Main courses (Beef Wellington, Pork Tenderloin and Filet Mignon) were absolutely delicious. Creme Brulee was among the best I've ever had. Reasonbly priced for quality food. We will be back....sooner than later."
"Really good food in a really nice setting. The inside is very nice and rustic, with a nice creek running through the back that you can see through the big windows. I had the Tenderloin, and it was divine. Wife had the salmon, and said it was the best she ever had. Great experience. I only knock of one star because the outside grounds don't look good, parking lot is dilapidated and the front of the building looks bad. For a 30-40 a person meal, that shouldn't be the case. I'd still very much suggest going here"
"The staff were great, very nice and responsive, service was quick and prompt with a smile. However, that is where anything good to say ends. The food was odd in some cases (getting cottage cheese and celery sticks instead of bread or some normal free-starter) and awful in others. The beef wellington was soggy, barely any mushroom patte, the sauce was likely sitting for longer than a week prior to serving, and the duck was dry; additionally the sides they came with were some extremely bland steamed vegetables with no seasoning whatsoever; the rice was soggy and also lacking flavor. The entire bill was ~$200 and despite finishing the meal, we were extremely displeased by what was supposed to be an acceptably expensive and nice night out. Despite the atmosphere being fine and the service being great the food quality was so bad that I would not recommend anyone go here until they can bring up that quality a LOT. The pictures attached show exactly what I'm talking about, I cannot stress enough that this meal was not worth $40 much less the $200 charged. Extremely dissatisfied and never going back, I have never felt so badly about a place that I left a review after eating there until now. Edit to reply to the owner: No thanks, I cannot justify your price point for the quality you are happy to deliver to your diners. It was worse than fast food and I regret being too polite to bring it up during service. I am not a fan of your use of my review to advertise your quality in your reply instead of addressing the actual complaints, look at the pictures; the duck was dry, the wellington was soggy, the vegetables did not have any seasoning, and the rice was swimming in water. My dining experience was mostly good, the food is what sucked. I rated the service highly and the atmosphere fairly, I really like the big open windows with nature available but it was kind of dingy. I did not have a bad dining experience, it was just the food that turned out awful. Just apologize for the terrible food, not service, food. Edit2: Maybe don't charge so much if you're not willing to take the steps to guarantee quality. A hallmark of a good restaurant is not having experiences like mine and a hallmark of a good business owner is being able to take criticism."
