"My son went here by ambulance to the ER with facial swelling he was awakened to early in the morning. He felt it worsening and couldn’t open his eyes well and his neck started swelling as well. When he arrived at the ER he kept telling them his eyes were getting worse and he felt his throat closing and he can’t breathe well. They gave him Benadryl in the ambulance which did nothing. The nurse in the ER stated to him “you’re just having a panic attack.” When the on call ENT arrived they found his throat was starting to close and upon palpation of his chest, he noticed there was swelling there too. They called down respiratory and pulmonary after not believing my son when he got there. They were thinking of doing a tracheotomy but then admitted him to ICU. When I arrived, he was writhing in pain and saying he couldn’t breathe. They had already given him two epi pen injections with literally no change in his condition. They kept asking me if he had ever had allergic reactions and I said he had seasonal allergies. Nothing ever like this. His whole face, neck and eyes were so swollen that his orbital bones and eyes looked like two balls were placed on top. He couldn’t see and couldn’t speak well. He thought he was dying and yet again in the ICU the nurse was rude saying he was “fine” to him. After 2 hours in icu writhing in pain, they ordered a ct scan and found his left lung was collapsed and he had subcutaneous emphysema which pushes air out of lungs into tissues like his neck and face and can cut off air. This is an extremely rare condition also can be caused by trauma and many other things. It was starting to also surround his heart by the time they got the scan. They came to me and told me they had to do an emergency chest tube. My son explained to them when he got there what he felt and he got horribly poor care and he could’ve died. Moments later he may have if I hadn’t gotten there when I did and explain to them this was not normal. I will never allow my son to be treated here again."
"Emergency room and waiting room are not meeting people's needs. Unless you are a homeless person and have decided to camp out there overnight. They said they were full, and we waited 5 hours to be seen. When we got to the treatment area, there were 4 patients being treated in the ER (not in fast track) and the rest of the doors were closed, 1 doctor on staff only. The nurse said, " a few days ago the wait was 12 hours." as if that made it better. No that does not make it better. It just makes you understaffed and look totally incompetent. I have seen busy ERs where every bay was full and people were being treated out in the hallway. This was not the case here. I received correct diagnosis, great care once I got to the treatment area, but until then, the prolonged wait is not safe for sick patients."
"By far, the best experience and warm customer service experience at a hospital in such a long time! From our friendly registration assistant to the confident and professional surgi-center staff, orderlies, anesthesiologists, and nurses all of whom were above and beyond our expectations. Truly well deserved 5 star rating today! Thank you for treating us warmly, professionally, and efficiently! Awesome tram work demonstrated today."
"Had our first baby here and the overall experience was great! From the beginning of the pregnancy (our OB doctor was also here) to taking our baby home— everything went smoothly. The nurse who was with my wife during the delivery was such a kind lady! The delivery room was very spacious and had nice views. The nursery was a little smaller than we expected but they told me a new wing was being built so recent experiences may be different. All essential stuff for the baby (diapers, formula, wipes, clothes, etc.) were provided by the hospital during the time we stayed in the hospital (two days). Good Sam is a fantastic hospital and I would definitely recommend it. They handled everything well even during the pandemic."
