About the Business
Cleveland Montessori School, located at 12510 Mayfield Road in Cleveland, Ohio, is a primary school serving students from ages 3-14. Our school is based on the principles of Dr. Maria Montessori, an Italian educator and physician, who believed in allowing children to develop independence by doing tasks themselves.
At Cleveland Montessori, students excel in various subjects such as math, reading, geography, social studies, writing, and science. We offer enrichment programs including drama club, sports, Italian language, instrumental music, and art. Our before and after school programs accommodate the schedules of working parents, running from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Our school is located in a beautifully restored historic building in Cleveland's Little Italy neighborhood. Students have access to the culturally rich University Circle area, home to renowned institutions and museums.
From Lower Elementary (1st-3rd grade) to Upper Elementary (4th-5th grade) and through to 6th-8th grades, our students develop a sense of self, philanthropy, and global awareness. Parents have praised our school for fostering independence, spiritual growth, confidence, and maturity in their children.

"We have had an excellent experience at Cleveland Montessori so far! My children all started in the primary classrooms. The teachers/staff are very welcoming to children and families. My kids have thrived in the Montessori environment. The teachers are all so caring and nurturing and my children absolutely adore them. Personally, I love the neighborhood the school is in (the kids get to walk to the nearby playground daily). Pre-Covid we loved the different activities planned outside of normal school hours like the Valentine's Dance and Halloween activities - which are great times to connect with other parents!"
"My children are alumni. As adults, they utilize the life skills learned in Montessori of independence, perseverance, and knowing their strengths and challenges. They continue to grow and learn and they attribute that to their experiences at the school."
"Cleveland Montessori is a wonderful school. It’s not just about the materials they teach, but about their approach in working with the kids, the environment, and the strong sense of community. It’s wonderful to see how the children of different ages interact and learn from each other. The school fosters both independence as well as the importance of team work and nurtures they kids’ creativity. We are so happy to be part of this community."
"Cleveland Montessori provides an excellent environment for children. Provides both a stimulating intellectual environment while at the same time providing a solid moral foundation. A true Montessori education and a great community of parents"
"A lot could be said about some of the teachers. Montessori is a certain type of box, and if you do not fit into it, it will just not work. It sounded great at first, the concepts, learning process.. And as former student I can say that my experiences were emotionally traumatizing. I felt isolated and extremely misunderstood. A certain Mrs. "Teacher" could not understand my sensitivities, and how deeply I take things to heart. And that really made it difficult for me to learn in that environment. I ended up being home schooled because no matter how much my parents went to the school and confronted her, she did not listen and you could tell that she was annoyed. She did not understand who I was as an individual, and formed judgement's about my character before even getting to know me. My parents pulled me out because it was too upsetting. For all of us. The process of trying to communicate ended up with it being "our fault". They did not take the responsibility to see that the system does not work for every child, and they tried to keep me there because they couldn't face losing their numbers So we disappeared, and found that other people had very similar experiences to ours."
