"Using good quality fish but very pricy. Food was great but the nigiri size are all different. Some are slightly more rice and some are small portion rice. Not consistent size of nigiri sushi."
"Ando has been my absolute favorite restaurant for a few years now and in my opinion, the best sushi in the city. We often come here before leaving for a business trip or when returning from one. It's a very nice tradition we've started. I recently went and had a lovely dinner there. Here's what I had: Sushi: Fatty Tuna nigiri BBQ Unagi nigiri Salmon Roll Spicy Tuna Roll Appetizers: Gyoza Beef Amiyaki (one of their current specials) The meal was so good that I came back a couple days later and ate at the sushi bar again. I tried the Matcha Mascarpone cheesecake and added Anko (red bean) on top which was phenomenal. The Ootoro/fatty tuna nigiri is my favorite, it is so buttery and the yuzu kosho that comes on top adds a nice citrus pepper finish. I look forward to the next time I eat there. Thank you so much for all these delicious meals over the years!"
"Underwhelmed. With their prices I expected much more in quantity and quality. We arrived early and it wasn't busy but we were served after others who arrived after we had. The server was polite and explained the menu options. From the way he was talking I came to expect the best sushi was here. Unfortunately I was bitten by a mosquito multiple times while waiting. It seemed to be having a better meal than I had. Ordered 5 rolls. Only 1 of them might be worth ordering again. $17.50 for a Philadelphia roll? Was thinking maybe they had something special or it would be bigger...but it was tiny and the fish was scarce. The roll could have come from *Kroger* and I wouldn't have been able to tell the difference. Disappointed! Can easily get bigger better sushi for half the price almost anywhere else in town. Dessert was just ok. We had the dark chocolate cheesecake and it was dry and lacked presentation...same story as the sushi. Also was given a dirty spoon to eat dessert. When I mentioned the spoon was dirty, I got no apology, only a skeptical inspection of the spoon before he replaced it. If you're looking for overpriced sushi that is lacking in presentation and size, this is your place. Otherwise I suggest skipping it and going anywhere else."
"Ando is my favorite sushi restaurant in Cincinnati. I don’t usually trust sushi in a land locked city (Ohio River does not count), and I think sushi is bad when it tastes too fishy. I’ve tried a lot of places in Cincinnati, and Ando is the only sushi that I will get in town. The service was also great. We had a long wait once, which is understandable, and the owner gave us free edamame."
"Authentic Japanese food - ma and pa restaurant. Many locals consider this the best Japanese restaurant in the greater Cincinnati area. The sushi is slightly expensive and would be a good idea for a celebration of some kind. There are cheaper options such as the udon or curry as well. The good quality of ingredients are very good and they had some really great touches such as shiso in the umeboshi roll. The deserts as well are a gem and a departure from the usual Mochi ice cream seen in the usual Asian fusion places. The service was a little slow and the ambiance could be updated. Perhaps that’s the charm."
