Reviews of Afghan Grill
"Great place. Ordered Baba ganush, chicken shikabob, and oven roasted lamb. Everything was delicious! The environment was perfect for a date night."
"This place will probably become one of our go-to's. We did the dinner for 2, and ordered the eggplant, lamb and chicken kebabs, and basmati rice. Everything was so flavorful, the lamb was incredibly tender, and the portions were so big we brought home enough leftovers for the both of us. My wife also had the firni for dessert (which she loved), and I took home a box of the baklava for later. It's a small, unassuming location - but don't let that scare you away. You would be missing out on some of the best food I've had since moving to Ohio."
"The best food I've ever eaten. Everything is fresh and made to order. The woman who served us was kind. The mantoo and the qabili pilov are exceptional! We will be back, and I will be craving this food until we are!"
"If you cannot travel to Afghanistan, THIS is your next best option. You know it’s quality when even the “basic” basmati is flavorful, soft, and evenly separates. We will 100% be back again, even as we live 2+ hours away. The service is fantastic. You are given menus at the front, take a seat, and then order at the front when ready. A very gracious host, easy and precise ordering, helpful selection & quantity advice, and squeaky clean throughout. Bathrooms are solid, nothing out. Honestly never had to get out of seats for anything: it’s excellent service. Overall, absolutely delicious, tangy, and spiced thoroughly across all fronts. We had the Badenjon Buranee (eggplants w/ spiced & yogurt—well-cooked, tangy, great to dip your bread in), Bolanee (delicious fried bread stuffed with potatoes and leeks—a favorite now and comes with a spicy chutney and a ranch-like sauce), Mast-o-Khair (adds a nice cucumber yogurt condiment, akin to raita, to all the main courses—maybe get two for bigger parties). Then for mains, Chapli Kabob, Chicken Kabob, and the falafel wrap. The first two had rice sides, the latter had French fries. The entrees were well-spiced (though not necessarily spicy), the meat was well-cooked especially the chicken’s char and pull-apart texture, the basmati was top-tier, and the presentation is fantastic (see pictures below). The Chapli Kabob was also quite good: spiced, break-apart texture, and filled with some vegetables actually too. I had the falafel and it was about the best falafel wrap I’ve had in ages. Toasted wrap with a soft inside, onions, cilantro, and this tasty green sauce. The falafel itself tasted authentic and tasty. Fries were fantastic—crispy on the outside, soft on the inside; I threw on a little salt to taste. I’ve been to dedicated Mediterranean restaurants with far inferior falafel wraps, so this was a very happy surprise. Loved the vegetables inside and the sauce, plus this was actually one of the cheapest items! For everything, portions are very sizeable, excluding maybe the Badenjon Buranee (6 slices of eggplant). Everything else is easily shareable among 2 people, even the large falafel wrap. We were getting full even when the appetizers were wrapping up. We finished up with cardamom black tea. They were so kind to give one to each in our party, even though we only ordered one. It was brewed in a samovar right in front. Pristine black tea (green tea is also available) and the warmth + cardamom make it feel like home again. We would’ve gotten dessert if we weren’t stuffed. That baklava out front was calling to us, haha!"
