Reviews of Mr. Shawarma & Grill
"The best shawarma in Dayton. I had a conversation with the chef who clearly invested a lot in the the Shawarma recipe to get it as authentic it can be. They also serve a very affordable lunch Mediterranean Buffet during the week."
"I got the mixed chicken and beef Shwarma plate, egg plant salad side and some falafel. I have eaten quite a bit of Mediterranean food, and have spent time in Turkey and Isreal, and I have eaten quite a bit of middle Eastern and Mediterranean food. The shwarma meat was very dry and under seasoned. It tasted like they aren't slicing it fresh. They give you a decent amount on the plate. The falafel was overcooked, but had a good flavor. Eggplant salad was exceptional. Some of the best I have had. They give you a large portion of rice which has a nice flavor. They have a sit down dining area and take out. The server was very friendly and quick with the service."
"I visited this restaurant a while back and forgot to post my review. It was a nice experience to try a new shawarma place. I only got the chicken shawarma with fries on the side. The sandwich was not bad, has a potential to improve specially the garlic sauce in it. The fries were a bit oily. The service was amazing!"
"Nice open dining space. Clean bathrooms and clean dining area! Everything was fresh and clearly made with care, love, culture and experience! The young lady who was serving myself and a few other tables did not skip a beat. She knows how to hostess, service and clean every table that visited this fine establishment. The food: fresh, flavorful, delicious! Everything was made fresh and just as expected! I’ve had the stuffed grape leaves from many restaurants, but Mr. shawarma has the recipe in the bag, if you’re looking to fall in love with a new food with a brine, savory, chewy textured variety. My company and I got the baba ghanouj, humus, stuffed grapes leaves, rice and the chicken/beef shawarma combo. Impeccable. If you’re looking for light and flavorful, this is the spot. Note: same owners different restaurant name!!! If you’re used to this place called “yaffa” please note; ITS THE SAME AMAZING PEOPLE WITH THE SAME AMAZING RECIPES… they just changed the name of their establishment. :)"
"The wife and I wanted to try some food outside of our normal comfort zone. We chose to try this place after looking it up online. Upon entering the restaurant, the smell of spices filled the air, and it made us even more hungry. Our server/ host, Dua, greeted us with a smile and seated us rather quickly. We had a few questions about the cuisine offered on the menu, and Dua was able to answer all questions and help us order our food. We ordered an appetizer of Falafel, and for the main course, I ordered the Yaffa Spicy Chicken with a side of Baba ghanouj. The wife ordered the Mixed Shawarma with a side of hummus. The Falafel were warm, tasty, and had the perfect crusting. The Yaffa Spicy Chicken had some decent heat to it and was extremely good. I wasn't a big fan of the Baba ghanouj, but I think it was more the texture of it, because the taste was very good. My wife seemed to enjoy her mixed Shawarma but wasn't a fan of the hummus. The best part was when Dua asked if we wanted to try the Baklava. It was GREAT. A lightly sweet mixture of nuts baked in a flaky Philo dough. I would definitely recommend this place."
