Hua Mei Restaurant

"I have no idea whether the food here is authentic or not, but I do not what if you keep an open mind, it is awesome. Today was my first visit, I did not know the restaurant exhisted and I wanted to try something different. Both of my favorite Chinese takeouts closed permanently in October (one after 50 years in business, one after 18), so I was looking for something new. I ordered the small Kung Pao chicken and a spring roll. Perhaps becasue of language barrier, I received a small Kung Pau and 4 spring rolls. The spring rolls were probably the best I have ever eaten. Cooked to perfection, and the dip sauce was spectacular. The Kung Pao chicken was nothing like I was expecting. The serving was very large, and did not have a sauce as I am used to. It was quite spicy, but not hot, and even though it was nothing like I was expecting, it was excellen. Like I said earlier, I had to keep an open mind. I will definitely be back."

"The menu seems very authentic and exotic. Much more varied than any Chinese restaurant I've been to. I stayed fairly conservative and went with the Thai style pineapple chicken fried rice. The pineapples added a nice sweetness to what was a fairly prototypical, if not tasty, fried rice dish. I was hoping the dish would have more curry flavor, as it was advertised as Thai style. It had some hints of curry, but not as much as I would have liked to taste. They also have a honey jasmine tea drink that was very good."
