"My mother was sent there from a memory care facility. They are treated like prisoners with no rights, like they are criminals, not confused adults with dementia. Information was non existent after the first day. Treatment plan was never given to me. Communication is extremely poor, diffcult to get a phone answered, or set up an appointment to visit during their limited times. They sent her back to her facility 7 days later with no shoes, like she was some animal. Afterwards, they promised to send her shoes back to the facility, which never occurred, I finally went back to pick up the shoes myself 3 days later. Did not seem to be a very professional or responsive facility. Due to my mom's dementia, I really don't know what happened to her while she was there."
"Do not allow your family member to be sent here!! It's as good as a death sentence. My dad and a uncle were sent there at different times and both came out in a lot worse shape than when they went in there and passed away shortly after they got out. I just found out my father in-law was sent there tonight and I hope and pray that he will come back in better shape. We were not informed until he was already on his way there from St. Andrews nursing home in Batesville."
"Loved one came out and died 3 days later due to lack of care and appropriate treatment. The facility would not allow visitors. The family was never told of his decline. The family showed up 10 days later to the demise of their father."
"If you are familiar with the movie “One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest,” this place is it! Totally regret having to put our Mom there but she had tried to commit suicide at age 86 so lost her rights as a citizen. Luckily, she was only there one night but seeing our Mom in a hospital gown with patients free to invade her space was unsettling at the least. Would not allow her to wear her clothes until they were washed. Was a weekend so no one was there to do the laundry. Working in Assisted Living, Memory Care and Skilled Care, I was appalled at the lack of care we experienced. Our Mom is gone now, but the memory of seeing her in this “institution” has never left our minds. Our recommendation is to make another choice if you can!"
"Please do not take your loved one here. My father has dementia and at his Senior living facility he was getting very agitated and it was thought he needed his medication adjusted. He was at Assurance for 3 weeks. We were not allowed to see him because of COVID restrictions. Totally understandable. However, when we would call to check on him we were met with extreme rudeness every time. I really couldn't get over how rude the nurses were every single time. I tried to imagine they were very busy and overworked, I know there is a shortage of staff all over, but it was EVERY SINGLE TIME. So rude, so unhelpful, and I could hear people taking to the patients there in the background so unkind. I worried about my father constantly. We rarely heard from the social worker, the nurse practitioner, and never a doctor. My father is hard of hearing and we had to rely on them to tell us how he was and we got to the point pretty quickly where we wanted to move him to another facility. We hated to uproot and confuse him more and these folks kept telling us they were adjusting his medication and he was improving and would be able to be released soon. Once, they told my sister they couldn't release him to another facility but that she could come and pick him up. Pick him up and then what? If if another facility didn't have room? They were awful and unhelpful. What they proposed was dangerous. Had they not released him when they did we were definitely moving him. We were not prepared for the condition he was in when he was released. He didn't know where he was, he was drooling constantly. He kept sitting or lying on the hard floor, and then unable to get up. He had lost a lot of weight. I said to my sister that maybe this is just how he was now. Fortunately, his doctor adjusted his medication after his release and he's better than ever. NO thanks to Assurance at all. What went on there? How could they release him in such bad shape? Unbelievable."
