"Dr. Powell and everyone in her office are absolutely incredible. Nobody cares about how much you know, until they know how much you care, and everyone in this office is a caring, high-level professional. Every time I needed something, had a question, or concern, Dr. Powell and her office always treated me with dignity and respect. They always made sure to answer all of my questions and even took time to ask me if I had any questions in general. They always broke things down in a way I could understand as someone who doesn’t work in healthcare. The delivery was great! Dr. Powell was with us when we delivered at 4:18 in the morning and was a true professional. She knows her stuff and I felt safe, seen, and heard while she was taking care of me in the most vulnerable point in my life of having a baby! She is confident and her cool, calm, and collective demeanor made me feel confident and safe. I like her direct approach and how she is a mentor and teacher to everyone she works with. She’s a team player in the delivery room and seeing everyone work together with her as the leader shows how much she cares not only about her practice, but the future residents, and makes sure to pay it forward as an expert in the field. I can’t recommend Dr. Powell and her team enough."

"I read the reviews to see if there were any similar experiences that my daughter endured during her visit there before I made this post, and sure enough, the one star reviews sums it all up. I had to transfer my daughter immediately after her first visit, a few months ago. My daughter is now approaching her second trimester and will be delivering a healthy baby boy. Her experience with Dr. Powell was not what I expected , her exam was aggressive, the forceps were dry and was very uncomfortable for my daughter, which made her squeal in agony, instead of her comforting my daughter, all she said was " you're the one that got pregnant". Her concern wasn't real and the visit was rushed. We called to request a copy of her paperwork to give to the new doctor, the receptionist had an attitude and never filled her request. Her new Doctor told her not to worry, they'll get it and indeed they did. I hope whomever is reading this, have a better experience than my daughter did. If you feel something is not sitting well , follow your gut. Zero stars, but I had to select something. This is not my personal opinion, it's my personal experience."

"I am losing faith in health care, especially in my vulnerable condition as being pregnant. And yes, I am an oral surgery resident who works in health care and understand how the system work. This is just sad. #1 red flag: My very first visit with the office and they actually did not take my old insurance. They told me that they do take my insurance and claimed it. I ended paying $500 out of pocket. I let it go the first red flag because all I care about is the health of my baby. I purchased new insurance to accommodate them. My visit with Dr. Powell has been very short and she doesn't seem to want to know more about me. I fainted during my first trimester and I reported to the office, they did not do anything about it. I had all the horrible symptoms and all they tell me is "it's normal". No sympathy or offer anything to alleviate my symptoms. They failed to make appropriate appointments for me and I had to go to the hospital to get my anatomy ultrasound instead. The insurance ended up did not pay for it and once again I have to pay out of pocket. I gave them my husband's family medical leave (FML) paperwork in September and was told by the office that they have filed it and faxed it. After multiple attempts, they still have not done it. How can I trust this office anymore? Dr. Powell also broke a news to me that she might not deliver my baby and it will be whoever on call (this information is new). I purposely went out of my way to go to Birmingham to a solo OB office so I can create a connection and bond with my OB. Now I will have a random doctor who I have never met deliver my baby? In October, I told them due to my insurance, I will be giving birth in a different state and therefore, will need to switch OB. I asked them again about the FML paperwork, they totally ignored it and tell me because I will have a new OB, they won't complete the paperwork for me. It took me a long time to write this review, but we soon-to-be mother deserves a better clinic and doctor. Find yourself an OB who truly cares about you and avoid this office."

"I’ve been a patient of Dr. Powell’s for almost 10 years and can’t imagine going to anyone else. She has helped me through many health issues, delivered my first baby and spent time encouraging me and listening to me as I was going through a miscarriage. She has never rushed her time with me, has excellent bedside manner, is down to earth and has a way of making difficult situations feel brighter. She is a confident practitioner and it is evident that she enjoys what she does."

"Dr. Powell is an amazing doctor. I came to her office for my pregnancy almost 4 years ago after having an unfavorable experience with a different physician. She is knowledgeable, warm, honest, thorough and she genuinely cares for her patients. She ensured that she had a complete understanding of my past medical history and was careful when creating my treatment plan. That pregnancy was high risk with rare complications but Dr. Powell provided an incredible amount of comfort and assurance while being completely transparent with all possible outcomes. We went on to deliver a healthy baby and I've been a patient of hers every since. Her combination of bedside manner and medical knowledge makes it impossible for me to ever see another doctor. I highly recommend Dr. Powell and her staff."
