"We flew in from Curacao. Followed the signs to US citizens only to have to back track and get in a very long line. They didn't have enough staff to manage the passengers coming from both directions. Our custom's agent knew our plane was boarding and continued to ask the same questions. Even asked about the relationship between me, my husband and son. Other agents were getting people thru at least three times faster. It was ridiculous. By the time we landed, got through customs ran to baggage, ran to check-in, had to rebook for next day - we had been there 3.5 hours since landing. Airline wouldn't give us a hotel voucher because they were not at fault and rightly so. On top of all that, many people movers, elevators and the skyline tram were out of service. I will never travel thru this airport again. On a side not, if you do get stuck here - Hilton Blue Lagoon hotel was great."
"I would sincerely give it zero stars if I could. Life is full of lessons, and one of the most recent ones is to never travel into MIA after an international flight because of the incompetence of the two male officers I encountered who are merely on a massive ego trip and would stop at nothing to stroke their own ego. After traveling solo overseas as an African American male and occasionally feeling nervous about how I would be received in some places, I had nothing but positive experiences that profoundly changed my perspective on how crucial it is to feel respected and welcomed when traveling because it makes the experience even more enjoyable. So after being welcomed back into my actual home country with nothing short of being treated as if i'm a criminal by two officers continues to showcase to me just why our country is very divided and has a lot of deeply rooted prejudice and racism that if not addressed and being taken into account will only continue to lead to more adverse events happening in our country. I understand that this review might seem excessive, and I'm not trying to make it seem like a race-related problem because I've read a lot of other reviews and know that people of all backgrounds have received bad treatment here, however you just know as a person of color when someone is continuing to antagonize you just to see you act of character due to you having a certain skin tone. Just proceed with caution if you must fly into this airport, and who knows your experience could easily be more pleasant than mines."
"I am a US resident and upon arrival with my friend - who is a citizen - we had to split as they throw residents in the 'visitors' line, which DOES NOT MAKE ANY SENSE! The citizen's line got cleared in like 40 min, then instead of calling green card holders in those lines, they opened it for the crowd and had to wait 2 hours to tell me "Welcome back" which took exactly as much time (8sec) as it takes for a citizen. The two stars is for the nice officer who told me welcome back!"
"Flagged my partner, the office never moved, made a big event out of my leaving the office to collect our bags for a connecting flight despite having my passport in hand. Garbage facilities. Poorly staffed. Staff was loud and cursing in the back room. No indication of how long the process might take. Incredibly bad."
"My trip was going just fine although i had to deal with long lines. Then I met immigration officer Smith bald head guy. He was very rude, he spoke to me as if I was slow to understand. He spoke fast and when I ask him to repeat for clarification he was even more rude. As i approached his desk he looked at me like he was disgusted. When I left from interacting with immigration officer Smith my travel Buddy ask me what was wrong because my entire countenance had changed. Officer Smith from interacting with you for under five minutes i know you are not anyone i want to interact with again. You are not a pleasant individual at all."
