"Great experience, staff is really nice and the process was as smooth as it could be. Obviously you are not the only person there who needs a passport so it does take a while. It is very convenient that you can get a passport in less than 12 hours."
"I kinda don't know what the complaining is about. I was able to secure an appointment, albeit at a slightly inconvenient time. I arrived a little bit early, but not extraordinarily so. I was treated and greeted with respect, which was happily returned as I was the ID10T who didn't check his passport expiration date, and these folks have a somewhat thankless job. I spent a few minutes getting cleared by security, and then was pre-screened by a very pleasant person whose name I did not catch, alas. She thoroughly vetted my paperwork (make SURE TO HAVE YOUR PAPERWORK IN ORDER... this is YOUR responsibility) and had me take a seat. Maybe 10 or 15 minutes later I was called to the window by number by staff member Nydia, who was incredibly pleasant and professional. She explained assembled and processed my order, took my payment (yes, you have to pay a little more when you need to expedite ... IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to renew on time). Nydia thoroughly explained pickup procedures and off I went. Maybe 20, 25 minutes total? Returned when instructed just after noon, cleared security quickly, waited maybe 20 minutes and was called to the window by yet another pleasant and professional staff member, and picked up brand spanking new passport. Honestly, I wish all government office visits went like this. Was it convenient for me to take a day to drive a few hours, hang around in Miami on boat show weekend, then drive back? No, not really, but that is not the fault of the professional security and staff of the State Dept. But I GOT A PASSPORT IN ONE DAY! Notes: 1. Get an appointment. No appointment, no service, but they have a phone number for genuine emergences (not just you forgetting). 2. Have your paperwork in order and organized. It makes the job of the both security and the staff easier. It is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to have your paperwork in order, not the security guard or the staff. 3. Realize that same day service is a privilege, not a right. Don't complain, don't whine. You will have to pay for this privilege with a tiny little bit of time and a few bucks. 4. Be polite, be respectful ... these folks have a job where entitled a$$hats treat them badly at every turn, and all they are trying to do is their job, which is to get you a passport IN ONE DAY. Be grateful. Do not be one of the a$$hats."
"I just went through this process today and I couldn’t be happier. The people working there were friendly, efficient, and they kept us well informed every step of the way. I had a 7:00 am appointment and I was out of there by 7:25, app submitted, fees paid, all of it. The next step was to come back at 1:00 for the passport distribution. One thing to know about that last step….while they say the office closes at 2:00, that’s just when the doors close and you can’t get back in the room. If you are in before 2:00 to retrieve your passport, you will get one. It may take until 4 pm to distribute all of them, one of the officers told us it has taken until 7 pm before. So don’t worry if it’s getting close to 2 and you don’t have yours yet. Be prepared to wait, but you’ll get it. Also, you can use your phone, but you can’t take or make calls in the building. The parking garage is around the backside of the building, not the side of the address on Biscayne Blvd. It’s a long day, but they do a great job there."
"I wonder why this agency has a low rating. I arrived for my 7 am appointment and left before 7:30 am for the first stage of receiving a same-day passport. You must return between 12 and 1 pm to pick up your passport, which was also an efficient process. Everyone from extremely friendly and helpful. Thankful they were able to assist and resolve challenges with last-minute travel."
"There are negative reviews here but honestly, taking into account this is a same day/expedited print location where everyone is antsy, the process is very smooth. The staff was also unexpectedly polite. Make sure to bring everything required for your appointment (old passport, forms etc). Also remember, you must have an appointment, you must pass through metal detectors to enter and you must bring your passport photos already done- but just in case- they have a photographer for a fee downstairs if you forget. I received my passport at 1pm after my 8 am appointment time for a flight at 11pm the same day.. plan to spend time there or leave for lunch. Parking was rather expensive though and does not allow in and out. Overall, it was as convenient as it could've been under the circumstances."
