Reviews of Charlotte County Homeless Coalition
"Great service for various resources. Daily dinner free to anyone at 4:30p. Thank you for your service volunteers and staff. Without you many people would go hungry."
"Sheryl from the shelter is an elderly exploiter. She presented herself as someone of trustworthiness and had my Grandma's debit card shut off denying her of her debit card funds. My Grandma is 87 years old with dementia and she is being held hostage at that shelter and they will not give me or my family any information about her. Her name is Ruth Young. She cannot even safely bathe by herself and they will not release her to her legal caretaker. She is being mentally and emotionally abused."
"Thanksgiving was a wonderful day to volunteer here...! Cassandra P. and Dave are real friendly troopers...I'm coming back soon ( and bringing some family members )and keep the roll moving. God bless their heart ❤️. Jim M."
"Staff is overall great. Just be careful of religious Christian volunteers pushing their views at dinner time, I really hope this situation gets resolved in a way that would allow for religious people to have their own time and space to conduct religious rituals peacefully as they see fit that doesn't interfere with others who may not be of their religious affiliation. The Muslim group that comes in every other Tuesday is great as they don't push a religious narrative when they serve a meal. The coalition does a great job of working with veterans to get housing assistance as well as VA benefits, they also have something called rapid housing for non-veterans. I really don't know a lot about the rapid housing program as I'm a veteran I know more about the Hudvash program that assists veterans in getting housing. They also work with other organizations that assist with home furniture and other essentials such as clothing from the Fabulous Finds store which is a great way to donate to the coalition, through either donating clothing, or household items that still have some life left in them, or by simply shopping at the fabulous Finds store which is filled with clothes, household items, and some hidden treasures. They also run a food pantry every Monday and Wednesday helping to feed over 200 families each week, as well as feeding several other homeless people in the local area. If you would like to make a donation of either, food, money, cleaning supplies, or volunteer your time stop by the donation office on Kennesaw St. and see Mary-Lou who can answer any questions you may have about volunteering your time. And once again yes you can also drop off cleaning supplies such as, bleach, dish soap, laundry soap, disinfectant spray, paper towels, vinegar, comet, Lysol, Ajax, Brasso, Never-Dull, toilet paper, body wash, lotion, hand soap, deodorant, shaving supplies, feminine hygiene products, baby formula, diapers, etc. At the office on Kennesaw Road. A pressure washer would be nice as well and some wire brushes. And some floor wax as well as entryway mats so people can wipe their feet before entering the shelter."
