"I’m really disappointed today. I’ve been using Sherwin-Williams stores for many many years on a lot of my projects. I’ve always had a positive experience until the last couple of days. I came to purchase some wood stain for a project and gave the store associates as much information as I possibly could. They recommended me a stain color, stain type, and the amount I should buy. And all three of them were WRONG. Not only was the stain color horrible and not AT ALL what I asked them to color match, I found out later that for the type of wood I had, I need a gel stain and not oil stain. AND they told me to buy the gallon when the reality is I only needed like half a quart… I went to return the gallon after only testing it, and not even using it, only for them to tell me it’s nonrefundable. Then they pointed out to me that it says it on the gallon. But you don’t get the gallon until you’ve already paid for it… If they had disclosed to me that it was nonrefundable, I would not have purchased this product from them and I would’ve gone to Lowe’s or Home Depot where you can test many colors and return at your leisure. We’ve been using this company for years, and I’ve never tried to return anything, I was really disappointed that they wouldn’t even get me a store credit just this once. This renovation is for a charity project, and the budget is very small. We lost a lot of money on the stupid bucket of stain garbage. I will no longer be coming to Sherwin-Williams stores for my projects, because of they’re in-flexibility. This is not a normal return: I felt miss-guided by the people there, and was encouraged to purchase some thing that I did not need. This is very disappointing because I always loved Sherwin Williams. :( I ended up going to Lowe’s, where they let me pick out multiple stains, test what I wanted, and return what I didn’t want anymore. I would highly recommend doing the same."

"After reading positive reviews about the good customer service at this store I was unpleasantly surprised to receive poor customer service today. My husband and I arrived 15 minutes before store closing and there was one sales person, Alex. He was on the phone and did not acknowledge us. (We were actually standing in front of him for 10 minutes.) He continued his phone call and then when he got off the phone he was impatient with my husband as he asked questions about the color of paint we were looking for and whether or not it was available. Alex didn't answer the question, he referred to a brand of paint and when my husband attempted to clarify, Alex threw up his hands and rudely said my husband wasn't listening. UPDATE: My husband and I returned to the store at the request of the Sherwin Williams management team and they were very apologetic for the treatment we received in the store. They were also very accommodating in correcting the situation. This experience was very positive and my husband and I were very happy with the resolution. We will definitely be returning to this store for our future paint needs."
