"I just had my first cruise on Holland America Ms Noordam with my dad. This is my fourth cruise overall. I enjoyed the cruise very much and especially the longer stop over times than on other lines I've been on so far. This cruise was around parts of Australia. I loved that the booking, payment and boarding / disembarking was flawless and excellent. The ship, the room, the facilities were excellent and clean and well presented. All the staff were excellent! I did feel that this particular ship was targeting more of an older crowd - 65+ , which was fine as I was travelling with my dad. However for my age group I didn't find much entertainment. We booked several shore excursions which was good and easy to deal with, but definitely too expensive. Also the fact that there were daily gratuities deducted from both of us was not great. I would assume that the ship should pay decent salaries tó all staff and we should have a choice to tip whom and if we chose. The food was absolutely fantastic, could not make any improvement suggestions. The choice, variety, freshness and quality was above expectations. It was the first ship though for me, where the buffet was not 24hours . However , there was 24 hour room service, which we did not need to use. Holland America phone App is excellent. Everything is easy to use and you can look up other guests and chat to them through the app without purchasing additional wifi. There were a couple of small hick ups during the trip, one of which was that both mine and my dad's onboard credit was applied to dad's account, even though I was the one arranging and booking everything. We went to resolve this at the customer service and they said they did, but in the end it was still all on my dad's account. We sorted this among ourselves, but I think this should be something that is automatically allocated to each traveller. I was also accidentally charged for someone else's drinks ( a whole table worth) , where as I do not drink alcohol. This issue was resolved quickly and my account was credited so all good!"

"We had an amazing time on our 9-day Southern Caribbean cruise aboard the Rotterdam. Granted, our two kids were among only 20 kids on board! It's definitely an older crowd but very friendly, fun and well-traveled. We really enjoyed the music at the Billboard dueling pianos, Rolling Stone rock room and B.B. King Blues Club!! The food was amazing as well, best main dining room we've experienced of several cruise lines. Rudi's Sel de Mer is not to be missed! The family also loved Tamarind and Nami Sushi. The ports of call were wonderful, and we highly recommend Solobon Sailing in Bonaire! One thing I will mention is that the verandah staterooms are extremely cramped with the sofa bed and pullman bed in use, more so than on other cruise lines. We had 4 people in the room and we were constantly bumping into things and into each other. I really didn't like that the pullman was over the main bed, hubs and I bumped our heads on it a few times. Still, they are very nice rooms that are well appointed with great amenities. I would just maybe get two rooms or a suite for a family on this ship."

"We had a great time at our cruise. The Holland America Line is a great line with a private island in Bahamas, but we had some trouble with our luggage and toilet. Food was delicious and service the best!! Friendly and helpful staff and good music everywhere. Not recommended for small kids."
