"Teach your drivers NOT to block the crosswalks at a red light, pedestrians actually need to use them to safely cross the streets."
"I called them to come look at a commercial oven we were having issues with. The first call I made, I was on hold for about 15 minutes until someone answered, not a big deal, but the conversation I had with the person that answered may have been the most unproductive exchange I have ever had with a business. First, he almost seemed like he didn't know he was getting a call, he just said "Hello?", I told him I was having an issue with an oven and needed to know when they were available to come out, what they charge hourly, and what their after hours rate was because it would have to be done after hours due to the busy kitchen. He said he didn't know what they charged, and I would have to talk to a dispatcher about when they could come. I said ok well how do I talk to a dispatcher? He took the address to the site down and my number, and said someone would call me back. I was quite frustrated with that exchange but I thought to myself, maybe dispatch was busy and if they don't pick up after 15 minutes it goes to a tech who might not have any of that info handy. I wait for a call and a week goes by, I planned on calling a different company that day, when I suddenly get a call from Hobart around noon. I tell the guy the issue and that I need to know what they charge hourly and that it would need to be done after hours etc. He said he didn't know and I would have to call dispatch, but at least gave me the dispatch number. I thought it was weird someone would return my call with none of the info I requested, but it will all make sense next. I call dispatch and got a woman who clearly sounded irritated, maybe not her fault, it seems like the company is run quite poorly and she is the one putting out the fires. That being said, I tell her the info I need and the address, she gives me the hourly rate, and says her tech just called and said he was turned away..... apparently the person who had just called me was the tech and he was on the way there. I never requested anyone to come out, I was just trying to get an hourly rate to get approval and then to schedule it after hours. I explain this to her, and she said they don't call before because they are so busy, and it took a few times for her to understand I never asked anyone to come, I think it clicked for her when she said she had a card on file and I said I never gave a card, I NEVER ASKED ANYONE TO COME. Apparently they had the card info stored for whoever called them last time they came to this site which was probably a year or two prior. They would have charged the wrong persons card. I gave my updated info, the price was steep but this needed to get done so I accepted, and we scheduled a call for a few days later. The tech shows up a few days later around 9am on a day the kitchen was mostly closed for an event, the kitchen is wrapping up and will be out by 945am but will be back around 2pm. The guy escorting him, who I am on the phone with and can hear everything, told the tech "we will have to wait, you can just bill for your time waiting" to which he said "dispatch has something else I can do really quick, I can come back at noon." This was a huge red flag. -Noon rolls around and no tech. I call dispatch right before 1pm to cancel because the window of time we will have is not enough to pull this oven out and do any meaningful troubleshooting. The dispatch woman literally said "My tech said he was turned away because there were people in the kitchen." I came really close to losing my cool at that point but if her words are true, it would be unfair to blame her for the tech lying. I politely and as calmly as possible said "that is absolutely not true, he was told he can bill for having to wait the 45 minutes, I heard the entire conversation, your tech said dispatch wanted him to do something else and he would be back at noon." -She apologized but I could tell by her tone this is something she deals with on a regular basis, I canceled and would never recommend using this company under any circumstances."
"Terrible service, took weeks to get a minor repair done and we took slicer to them so no fee for travel but they still charged a travel fee. When questioned they said the technician needed to travel to their facility. If you would have told me that no matter what you charge a travel fee then I would have had them come to my business and had it done right on the spot. $50 part cost me over $900 to repair."
"Horrible customer service. Their technican George first throws his cigarette right outside on the floor of our business before entering. Then takes weeks to come back to fix the issue. He didnt call to schedule or anything, just randomly shows up, just so happens we closed early....because our equipment was broken for weeks and we cant produce anything. So he gives us an attitude because we are closed and says he will be back the next day. Then guess what.....HE DOESNT SHOW, SHOCKER....and now here we are another weekend with broken equipment courtesy of hobart and their technician. Oh and dont even bother calling customer service because they innocently are at the mercy of these technicians"
"Such a bad experience with their customer service. I have worked with them for five years and on Tuesday I requested a service call for repair on my 2 deli slicers and the lady who sets the appointments cancelled mine twice and then when she finally set me up for Friday she decided to cancel because she had a “contract client” in other words a more important client that required my spot. She DID NOT call me to let me know she cancelled my appointment for the service repair leaving me with no slicers for the whole weekend. Such nasty customer service."
