"This is a wonderful, gated condominium complex! It has a nice mix of full-time residents and seasonal renters, especially snow-birds escaping colder climates. The pool area is fantastic! Great location near beaches, parks, and the Pinellas Trail for biking/walking. Our stay here was excellent. Ignore the one bad review. If you check their other reviews, you can see that they enjoy giving one-star for petty nonsense. Obviously, a very unhappy person who blames businesses for Google Maps inaccuracies. Avalon will definitely be a top consideration for me if I return to the area, and I do not hesitate to recommend."

"This is some sort of scam. On Google maps this is labeled as a 2 star hotel. But there is no hotel at this location. This is a condominium complex and is known in the neighborhood as a low income housing complex for people of retirement age. There is no sign for a hotel at this location either. There is no website listed and attempts to find out booking information through the link on Google only takes you to a pop up window that says book through the website which does not exist. The phone number listed in the Google listing is for a phone number in Montreal NOT anywhere in Florida. I contacted city hall and they do not have any legal hotels doing business at this location and they inform me that to obtain a business license a business must supply a local phone number. The better business bureau and the chamber of commerce both warn against booking with any "hotel" that does not have a local number preferably 727 area code which is the area code for Pinellas. At the very least a number with an area code in one of the surrounding counties. Update: To the person claiming to be the owner, Google maps lists this place as a 2 star hotel. It is not a hotel. There is no sign out front identifying this place as a hotel, motel, inn etc. You can't just drive up to see a sign that says "vacancy" then walk to the office and check in. If you can't do that it's not a motel. Also, at the precise location indicated by the map I personally know several people who live there who had to meet a minimum age and income requirement to move in. I also applied to get in but was told that at 61 I am too young. I suggest double checking where you have your location pinned. There are multiple complexes in the former Sunshine Mall property. My original review stands."
