Reviews of Bowtie Island
"I stopped by there by boat many times. Good place to picnic or just stretch your legs."
"Road was completely washed away. Had to kayak there across a busy boat inlet, risking life and limb and fighting off dolphins. Concierge was unaccommodating and we had to set up our own tent. Pest control on the island is subpar at best, but luckily we brought our own bug repellent. Cypress trees were so weak and flimsy they could barely hold a hammock. Plus side, no one can hear you scream, which may or may not be a good thing. If you are looking for adventure and a place where you’ll never be found if you go missing, this is the island for you. Kidding! It was ok and we liked it, but it’s summer so we wouldn’t come again unless it was a little cooler and windy to control the no-see-ums."
"Bad red tie found dead bird in water"
"I camped on Bowtie Island for a couple days in late March 2018. The best entrance to the campsite is from the east side. The wind and cool temps were enough to control the bugs. The entire campsite is centered in mangroves, so the wind has to be strong to feel a breeze or control no-see-ums. The campsite is literally next to the boat channel, so there's a lot of traffic by the island BUT those people really can't see the campsite or even know it's there. Someone left a table there, and I carried out all the beer cans. There's also not much shade."
