"This review would not have been published if it wasn't for $188. This contractor has lost my respect over being non-responsive and not returning my messages after we learned that we have overpaid him by this amount. Thus you get to read my review. We would not hire this contractor again, and my recommendation would be to proceed with caution. You will be asked for money up front, and request for payment will come fast and furious with the expectation of "I will be there tomorrow to pick up a check" the day that the work is done and before you have had the chance to review the work. As long as all goes as planned, you will get along fine, but while the contractor pays lip service to making the customer happy, in the end we found that there was a change in the relationship when we expressed items that we were not satisfied. We had work that would have been completed without proper permits had we not pointed out to this licensed contractor that the permits are required. The owner doesn't communicate well with the workers, and thus don't expect items that you are report that do not meet expectations to be communicated, you will need to do that yourself. We had work completed that we were satisfied with the results, and work done so poorly that we will be embarred to have seen by others. On a positive note, the workers were clean, polite, and I believe overall wanted to do a good job. We parted ways with the contractor, reaching the point that we were not happy with the quality of the work. We had more work to be completed but will not be moving forward. In the end, we received a final bill, paid it, then received an "updated final bill". We reviewed, realized that not only was the second final bill incorrect, but we had been overcharged with the original final bill. Thus we reached out, but have not heard back from the contractor demonstrating an overall lack of character. Hopefully, if you decide to use this contractor, your experience will be better."

"My husband and I are so pleased with our experience with My Handy Craftsman for our master bathroom remodel. Michael was so responsive to all my questions from the time I reached out for an estimate. I emailed him many times with questions and he always replied promptly. David was our craftsman and was a pleasure to work with. He was very professional and did impeccable work. Everything he did was done perfectly. Michael came to our home to check on the progress of the remodel and to make sure we were happy. The bathroom was completed in the time frame given and turned out beautifully. I highly recommend this company. We had an outstanding experience!"

"I am giving Michael Hale 2 stars for a variety of reasons, which I will explain in depth. First. we hired My Handy Craftsman to renovate our kitchen and Michael had two men working on the renovation at the beginning of the job. These two men were unreliable, saying they were coming in one day and then not showing up for two days with no communication. One day these men came in 3 hours later than their initial communication smelling of marijuana. Our house was filled with the scent of marijuana, so I took my daughter outside to escape it. When Michael found out he removed the men from the job, but the work they completed that day was shoddy and had to be re-done. Second, at the end of the job we received a revised bill for the work that included a $240 addition for installing pencil tile on the borders of the kitchen backsplash. We purchased the tile and grout ourselves and were surprised at the additional charge for labor without being informed ahead of time. Our initial proposal had already included backsplash installation, so we were charged extra at the end of the job (with no warning) because some of the backsplash was pencil tile. Third, Michael provided me with a contract included installation of 28 square feet of backsplash, so I purchased 28 square feet of backsplash and grout. My Handy Craftsman actually installed 13 square feet of backsplash, leaving me with extra tile and grout for which I had to pay. At the end of the job Michael informed me that the 28 square feet he'd written in his contract was his "typo". It was an expensive typo. Finally, the materials cost was 80 percent higher than the initial proposal despite no upgrades on our part. The initial estimate for materials was too low, which was surprising because there were no surprise problems such as rotting or termites to raise the cost of the materials. In the future we'll select a contractor who provides more accurate estimates for the work in his bid."

"Michael and the MyHandyCraftsman team transformed our outdated living room and fireplace into my favorite room: mosaic tile surround, granite hearth, shiplap feature wall and built-in cabinets and bookshelves. The team was easy to work, punctual we were kept constantly in the loop with updates. We couldn't be happier - we are already talking about our next project with Michael!!"

"We have used My Handy Craftsman for three projects. We renovated our master bath, guest bath and our kitchen. They were reasonably priced, finished the projects in a very timely manner and were always friendly and professional. They were open to our ideas and made our rooms look fantastic. We are so pleased and our house looks brand new. I would highly recommend My Handy Craftsman for any job you have!"
