Reviews of Boardwalk at Alafaya Trail
"It was the last place I stayed at in college, and it was my favorite. The management was super nice and accommodating, and the prices were affordable. As for the furniture, it was relatively luxurious, not just the cheapest thing from Ikea. The location is tucked away from all the traffic of Alafaya, and I would recommend this place to anyone who can't afford these new "luxury" places. Edit: I should also mention the maintenance guys were always friendly, and I never had any security concerns (as a guy)."
"For the price you get a nice sized room, living space and kitchen. The maintenance guys are great they work hard to fix up appliances and for me my bathroom til it’s close to brand new and they keep the landscaping well kept"
"I lived at Boardwalk for 2 years now so I’m going to keep it real. Depending on the room you have, it’ll be big or small (I think room A and B have the most space). Unfortunately, I had bedroom D (right by the kitchen). Closets are small. If you’re apartment is in the back, parking is terrible. You have to come home early just to secure your spot, otherwise you’ll be parking all the way in the front of the complex and have to walk which isn’t convenient especially if you’re a woman and it’s late out. There’s a gate but it’s broken and always open. Bugs are present, especially roaches. If you live on the first floor, frogs are right by your front door when it rains. Mold is present in the units too. There is one incident where water from the kitchen sink overflowed so bad, it flooded my room with carpeted flooring. The smell was so bad because stuff from the garbage disposal was mixed in there too. Instead of replacing my carpet, they just put a big loud fan in my room for weeks so my carpet would dry. I was stepping on wet carpet for weeks. That is when I knew that the manager didn’t care about what goes on with the residents. Boardwalk has honestly been known for its affordability, it’s spacious living room that comes with a TV, big dresser w/ a mirror attached, and it’s queen sized beds but don’t be fooled. Rent is increasing and NO renovations are being made. You might as well find a decent apartment around the same price elsewhere. I’m glad I’m moving out."
"update:boardwalk ruined my credit score by saying i never paid a fee that i did pay, they signed a form agreeing that i paid all of my fees to them upon move out. I lived there 4 years ago and this year they sent a debt collector after me, they NEVER TRIED TO CONTACT ME IN THE PAST 4 YEARS. DO NOT MOVE HERE. The rooms are big, sure, but for 50-100 more, you can find better. My apartment had obvious water damage, was not cleaned (dead roach in my room, a chicken nugget left, etc) and smelled awful due to stuff piling under the oven and kitchen area where there were cracks between the floor and the wood between the floor and cabinets. Between the space under the oven, here you are unable to clean, it is disgusting. Maintenance once spray painted my air vents white to hide the black mold (office tried saying it’s just dirt.. as if that makes it any better) on the vents. Took weeks if not a month to fix any complaints we had and had to buy them MANY times to get them to actually fix broken appliances. The smell can also be attributed to only changing the air filter 3 times in the year I lived there. Our back door was duck taped closed when I moved in (granted they did fix it, but this is still ridiculous.). The maintenance guys were super sweet and nice, the parking is decent, if you get lucky and get an apartment in the front it isn’t as disgusting I’ve heard. However- save yourself and just pay more for an apartment that isn’t disgusting."
"Boardwalk was definitely not the experience I thought it would be. Right when I moved in my toilet was broken and my shower and sink drains were clogged with hair. The room was not cleaned properly (there was dirt and dust and even bugs all over my windowsill right when I moved in). I had to clean it myself. On top of this, my roommate said the cleaning crew broke her vacuum and only gave her 50 dollars to cover the costs (which is not how much her vacuum cost). Additionally, our dryer was broken for almost a month and it took me calling the front office every single day and my mom stepping in for maintenance to finally come and replace it. Overall, this apartment is very very old, the vents are covered with mold and I don’t think they plan on fixing it. I’ve also heard that maintenance broke my roommate’s glass perfume bottle and just left it there shattered in her room (no notice, no compensation). We also received a trash violation for putting our recycling out on the patio (since there is no recycling bin available at Boardwalk) and when I approached the front office to ask where I can put my recycling, they just responded with “We have dumpsters.” There are also so many bugs in my room (ants, flies, etc.) that come out of the drains or through the broken windowpanes. Ants are all over my room almost constantly and I have bug bites all over my back from the ants. I would not recommend this experience to anyone and with the price increasing to 750 dollars a month, I don’t think it is worth getting a lease here."
