Reviews of The District on Baldwin Park
"All of the negative you are reading in these comments is 100% true. The roach infestations that no matter how much you clean and disinfect will not leave because they are in the air units, cabinets, walls and pretty much anywhere that you can think of.Be ready to throw away all your furniture because the will make it their new home and if you don’t you WILL take those critters to your new home when you leave. The homeless that hangout in the gas station across the street taking baths in your pool in the middle of the night , That also go dumpster diving in the middle of the night because there’s piles and piles of trash outside of the dumpster ,that makes the entire back area smell horrible. Mind you, there’s a whole Police officer who’s supposed to be patrolling the area but the only time you see him is when he’s shining his bidazzled bike looking like a whole EDC strobe light party by the entrance( dudes having a midlife crisis) The Mold building up by your ac unit and in the bathrooms because there’s no central ac, which they will make you pay for later because they will say that you allowed that to happen and they will take it out of your deposit. They make you pay a fee for valet trash which has been non existent for almost 3 years and amenities but the gym was closed for a year after a hurricane and the pools are open randomly through out the year. Some of the staff members specifically Tabatha can be very rude and unprofessional. I lived there for 2 years and it was by far my worst experience renting. Run from this place. If you see this and still apply…don’t say I didn’t warn you"
"I moved here in 2020 paying around $850. The area was close to both jobs I had in town. The pools were typically closed, the gate that you get charged for having the key for never worked. We have valet trash in our lease agreement. They stopped that service sometime the end of 2022 and then charged us if we left the trash outside our door for pick up afterwards. While still charging us. I lived in the building close to the dumpster, and for months there was a pile up of trash in that area spilling into the street. It led to a maggot and fly infestation that lasted for a bit(this is early 2023). There is a lease restriction option on the payment portal saying that you can’t pay more than a certain amount unless you turn it off. When my lease renewed to over the $1000 threshold in 2022 it declined my payment. However, I went to the office and asked why my payment wasn’t going through the second of the month. They told me it was just running slow. On the 6th they charged me a late fee and refused to remove it because they “were not responsible for that” My neighbors were friendly. The area behind the complex is fantastic if you have children or pets. But I would really recommend elsewhere. I was here from 2020-July 2023. And don’t expect your security deposit back. I cleaned the carpet and provided the receipt of $125 and they still charged me extra for that. I stayed because the area was ideal for the things I needed to do. But"
"I recently moved out of The District On Baldwin Park after an exasperating three-year stay, and I cannot in good conscience recommend this place to anyone. Here's a laundry list of the issues I encountered during my time there: Mold and Leaks: The presence of mold and chronic leaks in my apartment was a recurring nightmare. It not only affected my health but also made my living conditions unbearable. Frequent Water Shut-Offs: The water shut-offs in the neighborhood were infuriatingly frequent, causing significant disruptions to daily life. Charged for Nonexistent Trash Service: I was billed for trash service that was never provided. Consequently, the property was plagued with trash everywhere, creating an unsightly and unsanitary living environment. Lack of Maintenance: The property was riddled with dog waste, which seemed to go unaddressed. It made walking around the neighborhood an unpleasant experience. Non-Functional Amenities: The pools were closed for extended periods, the laundry room was in deplorable condition, and the gym remained out of service for months. The promised amenities were essentially useless. Unsafe Neighborhood: I never felt secure in the neighborhood due to ongoing construction and other safety concerns. Rude Management: The management's attitude toward residents was consistently dismissive and inconsiderate. Unjust Charges: To add insult to injury, I was charged for damages left by maintenance personnel when I moved out. This experience was both infuriating and unfair. Deposit Woes: Despite leaving my apartment in good condition, I didn't receive my deposit back, which left me feeling cheated. Exorbitant Prices and Annual Rent Increases: The exorbitant rent for a studio apartment was not justified by the living conditions. To make matters worse, they raised the rent by $200 annually, which felt like a slap in the face. In summary, my time at The District On Baldwin Park was marred by an array of problems, including mold, leaks, inconsistent services, filthy surroundings, non-functional amenities, safety concerns, unhelpful management, unjust charges, and unreasonable rent increases. Save yourself the trouble and look elsewhere for a place to call home."
"I currently live here and I regret it, I’m curious if the owners know that their property management is disrespectful and dismissive. I bought a portable AC unit because they dismissed me expressing that this one is blowing out dust and has a bad smell. I pray it isn’t mold. This is how my neighbor lives everyday. And this is the latest roach that came after being sprayed by pest control. This place is inhabitable. The city needs to send a code enforcer out ASAP! I’m going to take legal action now! I believe it’s a race issue. As a black Woman Navy veteran, I feel this is being done purposely. Just uploaded photos from August 20th 2023. The code enforcement, 4 weeks ago was going to issue a citation and lied and said he saw a worker cleaning it up. It’s still trash here that’s why there is an infestation problem and mold!!! The tenants don’t respect the apartment complex and the property doesn’t care about the tenants."
"Lived here for two years and this is absolutely the worst place I have ever lived. There are roaches everywhere and they get into everything, I had to throw out $2K plus in personal belongings and furniture when I moved out because the roaches were so bad. The apartment also has no central A/C which creates mold in the A/C unit and in the bathroom because it gets humid inside so every week you have to clean the ceiling in the bathroom. I have asthma and I've never been sicker than I have been since living there. They also raise the rent when it's time to renew by at least $350 with no improvements to the apartment or quality of living. Valet trash was taken away but was still charged for it the whole time. They charge for anything and everything and barely do anything at all. I also got charged for trash removal and trash container which I don't understand because when they took away the valet trash they also took their own trash can back, unless you are literally charging me a separate $25 to throw out a trash container. The trash container I left was my own and to be honest I did not want to put a trash can covered in roaches in my car so I left it outside. The only thing I left inside was a broom and bucket. I mean why even charge for apartment cleaning when you guys are just gonna go in and tear everything down and put in new floors like you did with the other apartments? Here are some pictures of the apartment upon me leaving, if anyone can tell me what trash needed to be removed then I will admit that I am wrong. If you want to live here, don't unless you like roaches everywhere and mold fogging up your brain."
