Reviews of Palms of Monterrey
"If I could give a zero star I would have. My husband and I tried four times to book a tour. Finally, the person I spoke to was very rude and said they ALWAYS call back. Obviously not, it took us four attempts. We went for our scheduled tour at 12pm today. The door was locked. A lady came pulling in on a golf cart and when I asked her if she was Kay, who was to give our tour, if looks could kill, I'd be dead! At that point I told her we were all set but I made sure to tell her that the phone and in person greeting from the staff here is horrendous! Her response was I don't know who you are and for us to have a great day. The appearance of the roofs and gates were bad enough. Hopefully management truly steps in and takes care of this."
"I've lived here over 8yrs now and overall, I've had nothing but a positive experience. Any maintenance issues are resolved in a timely manner. I have always been very comfortable here. Never felt unsafe. I do wish the dumpsters were emptied more often and the gates worked, but those are just minor annoyances."
"I moved in early August of this year and I love the floor plan of my apartment. However, that's just about all that I like living here because there are plenty of issues that come with it. About a month ago, I filled a maintenance request form due to BLACK MOLD in our air vents UNIT WIDE. It took about a week and a half to two weeks for anyone to call me and set up a time for a maintenance person to come by and spray the vents. Once he came and sprayed, I will say that it did help pretty significantly. However, it did not fix the problem completely. We still have mold. More recently, I want to say about two weeks ago, I filled out yet another maintenance request form for the same problem. Still nothing. For those of you who don’t know, if you try to clean the mold yourself without a professional, it will come back and it will come back way worse. Yes, I know that mold is very common in SWFL or other extremely hot/humid places, but the fact that I have to wait this long for a literal health violation to get fixed is pretty ridiculous. The lease also says "A CDC study found that there is currently no scientific evidence that the accumulation of mold causes any significant health risks." Anything to avoid getting sued, right? While waiting for a call, my first thought was "Okay, there's a lot of people moving in at this time, I'll cut them some slack." But now that I'm extremely sick from the mold, this is only making me angrier with the management. Some other small things I've noticed: 1. The gate never works. It is always open and I have never seen it closed once. Definitely should not be considered a “gated community”. 2. The roof right above my apartment is torn off from Hurricane Ian. (I think this is where the mold is coming from). There's no gaping hole in my ceilings, but we can't even use one of the stairwells in my building because of the huge traffic cone blocking the path. The stair's landings also flood during any rainstorm - whether it's just sprinkling or a heavy downpour - even though there are little holes in the safety walls to keep it from flooding. 3. The spiders, lizards and ants! I literally have a lizard in my bedroom as I'm writing this. There are spiders that just LOVE to make little homes inside of my window (inside the screen but outside of the glass). Somehow, the spiders and lizards just keep coming! I think I've killed about 20 spiders and caught/relocated four lizards in my two months of living here (and I'm on a year-long lease). I consistently have an ant problem in one specific corner of my bedroom window that I am always having to buy ant traps, which fixes the problem for about a week and a half before they all come back. I rarely eat in my room, let alone leave anything food-related out in the open. 4. The appliances are extremely old and practically broken. 5. There are no lighting fixtures/fans at all. We have to buy lamps or use the flashlights on our phones to see in the dark and I had to buy a plug-in fan to keep on my windowsill. (What apartment complex just DOESN'T have lighting fixtures in their units?) 6. I’ve noticed that with every shower I take, the hot water lasts about 3-5 minutes before it turns extremely cold. I get out of the shower shivering. That's about all the issues I've run into with in just, again, two months of living here. About a month into being here, I already made plans to move out. The management will just not give you the time of day and nothing seems to be right here. Does not feel like home at all. I'm inserting photos of mold just so I don't come off as obnoxious because the mold IS really bad... UPDATE I spoke to the maintenance supervisor and he was extremely condescending and was questioning me on very insignificant things. I'm a young girl but I am extremely intelligent regarding things like this because I was born and raised in FL. I've dealt with it all. He brushed off everything I said and basically told me to get lost. What a jerk. I cannot wait to get out of here."
"I can’t say enough good things about this place. From the time I met the staff to now living here for a year and a half, we’ve really enjoyed this place we call home. The staff are all nice, helpful, responsive. They keep the place looking awesome. They stay on top of the maintenance requests. I’ve met many residents that have lived here for years and that says a lot. We think the price of our apartment equals the value. The amenities that are available meet all aspects of life. Whether you have a family, pets, disabled, nice cars, extra storage. We live on the third floor and have vaulted ceiling, the stairwell only have two flights, we can never hear our neighbors when inside our apartment. And it’s the best location…near the health park, easy access to everything without having to go into major traffic."
