Reviews of Altis Grand Central
"I have thoroughly enjoyed my time living at Altis. The management and maintenance staff are always around and willing to help. The pool is great. the gym is spacious, and the community spaces are perfect for hanging with friends with one of the best views in Tampa. Plus, the location is great. You’re walking distance to Amalie arena and Hyde Park so there’s never a shortage of things to do. I highly recommend Altis to anyone considering."
"I don’t live at Altis but, I wish I did! My husband & I were visiting friends that have lived there for a few years, over the holidays & I didn’t want to leave. The amenities are top notch, the residents we came in contact with at the gym or in the clubhouse were so friendly & one of the maintenance guys even addressed my friend by name to wish her a happy holiday. Watching the fireworks on NYE from their rooftop deck was ah-mazing! Our current lease is up in May & we would ♥️ to make Altis our new home!"
"One of the best apartment experiences that I've had! In my ~2 years at the Altis, the management is welcoming and very accomodating to residents needs. They listen to complaints and address them urgently. Also, they have monthly community activities that are very thoughtful and fun (massive charcuterie boards, wine & paint nights, commedy shows, etc.). I have only had a few harware issues - laundry machines and plumbing mostly - but maintenance has never taken longer than a day or two to fix it. Also worth noting they're dog friendly and have one of the best pools in Tampa!"
"As an owner of multiple condos this is by far the best well kept community in downtown Tampa! I am so pleased with the staff yolanda, ashlynn, randi, & juan who all work so hard. The amenities and events just set them apart from every place I've lived and managed. Highly recommend this community!!!"
"As a transparent review, we started our lease June 2022 and pay $3250 for a 2 bed/2 bath apartment (about 1000sq ft) on a lower floor. We have a nice front loader washer-dryer set and the bedrooms are spacious. The Altis is a beautiful space. I've found the office staff to be pleasant and accommodating. Maintenance staff is prompt and super friendly. The rooftop pool and gym are the best amenities, where they also offer WIFI. Management also hosts some nice happy hour activities for tenants. In general, noise is not an issue. There are some disorganization issues: being charged increased fees without without notification (we were able to show them what stated in our lease and switch back to the original fee); and then not having the correct lease date, sending notification for end of lease in May when it ends in August.... 90% of issues lie in the quality of the building, which management can do nothing about unless they plan a makeover. I'd give the building itself 3.5 stars. Ventilation is poor and drastically affected by the sewage problems of Tampa. Most mornings we wake up to the entire floor (yes, including our apartment) smelling like sulphur/sewer gas. The water also occasionally smells like sulphur. It generally dissipates after an hour or two. We make regular use of our bedroom windows, patio door and air purifier to clean out old smells from cooking that the tiny microwave stovetop fan cannot filter. Hardware is cheap. For the first several months, we had to put in regular maintenance requests because the master bathroom shower door constantly slid, not allowing the door to swing open properly. There was already a chip in the glass door from the previous resident who must have had the same issue. (Maintenance found a screw that has kept it in place for over a month, which is a record.) There's also a kitchen cabinet that pops off its hinges. The countertops are very porous and stain easily. Even the paint on the walls rub off easily. Additionally, when we first moved in: the grills were broken, the bowling alley also (and constantly getting tangled) .... They've since fixed these issues, but you can tell that the appliances can't keep up with demand as fob doors are constantly jamming or not latching, handles breaking, etc. Fire sprinklers have gone off in apartments. Elevators not working properly in the second building. There is an automatic gate in the garage that's supposed to add extra security for resident parking but it's been broken since before we moved in. Layout space is not very well thought out in the apartment. It boasts walk-in closets, however you have to shut yourself in the master closet to reach the left side. Also you must shut yourself in the master bedroom door to enter the bathroom. In the second bathroom, there's no light above the toilet. The parking garage is very narrow. The building shares with businesses on the block so residents are not allowed to park on floors 1-3 so you must drive up to floor 4. Most drivers are courteous and pause around the corners. Unfortunately there are many compact spaces despite the fact that there are a large number of residents with larger vehicles. When we moved in last year, the market was very competitive. We're hoping it slows down so rent is more realistic with the value. As far as recommending The Altis for newcomers ... that's a maybe."
