Reviews of Halston Lakeside
"I've lived in this community for 5 years . It's been on and off, but they're working to make positive changes. Yesenia ad Nicole and Willy (maintenance) Deserve some kudos, I'm impressed with what you've done. Since the changes have happened recently in the past 6 months. It's becoming better and better and I have to say. I really have no complaints other than they do charge you for certain things. That's corporate. That's outside of local control. I'm impressed with the listening of resident feedback lately! Thank you"
"My son and I lived on this apartment for 4 years good location but, many Hispanic peoples lived in this apartment with group people sharing their rooms too much party in the picnic area and pool area listening loud music taking over the place and don’t clean up after, words they doesn’t care about neighbors disturbing us .. during a day or night through till morning , my unit neighbors too same things, I keep telling office and calling local police, doesn’t help . I will move out when my least over …"
"The park area looks like an area for smokers and drinkers, there are always men smoking and there is never a warning that this is not a smoking area. Apart from that, you leave cigarette butts right there and also beer bottles. It is a place for children, not for them. people smoke and drink there and it is always dirty because of the people who do that, and it needs a little maintenance now that it has just been painted, it is missing screws in some areas.."
"The good and bad: I’ve lived here 5 years. When I first moved in five years ago, this place was ok- then it just went downhill over time. Great maintenance crew but they would get no budget for materials and so everything was on us to pay for to replace like weatherstripping for the doors or screens, appliances that they would refuse to fix, because there were still electricity going to them- I mean it was pretty bad- I had two different roach, infestation, one German, and one Palmetto, and we had to resort to hire our own exterminator and using professional grade products at home to keep them away from our unit. The new management took over and changed the name to Halston (was Advenir). I went into the office to request to legally exit my lease due to a lot of the violations I was experiencing. The new manager came out and spoke with me and made a bunch of promises to me that I took with a grain of salt. So far they have done everything that was asked. Appropriate repairs are being made , cosmetic improvements, actual money being invested into things that matter & no more bugs. The best example I can give of how they listen is that they built a soccer court for the kids who live here so that they would have a place to play. This is something that I had asked for a few years ago and the fact that they actually built it just shows how much they are listening and looking at who lives here. The kids treat it like their sandlot. They love it and take care of it. They just play soccer and have fun- they rarely even keep score. It’s just a never ending game. What a gift. The first time I’ve ever experienced this type of resident engagement anywhere I’ve rented."
"Terrible apartment complex. The amenities are lack luster and are constantly abused by guests of residents that don't live here. Gym has equipment that doesn't work. Pool was closed for almost 9 months with no compensation given by the office staff. The pool area is filled with non-residents who leave broken glass and trash everywhere and they are up blasting music until 3/4 in the morning from Thursday to Sunday. The pavilion area is in disrepair with cushions missing from seats and gas grills that don't work(don't worry- they're being replaced with charcoal so they'll still be useless!), again constantly abused by non-residents who have weekly birthday/other parties that take up the space for the entire day, rendering it useless for residents. Crime has been a problem for this complex as well. There are no security cameras/community safety and you can expect your car to be vandalized or have parts stolen if it's remotely nice, and told to kick rocks by the staff as they'll never get security cameras or a gate/fence. I know of multiple people who have had hundreds/thousands in damages and the office doesn't care at all, just look at a local crime map of the area and you'll see everything that's been reported(which is a fraction of what actually happens). Additionally, if you walk the "lake" after dark there's a good chance you'll see/smell open air drugs use. And they just sprayed tons of chemicals in the "lake" which caused all of the wildlife to flee- very cool. Also, your base rent will be at least $150 higher for the exorbitant charges they tack on like 2 charges for water/trash or the 12.50 "administrative fee"(they charge you for the luxury of living there?!). The complex was just bought out by a Texas company that's trying to renovate the place to be "luxury" despite is miserable location next to busy Cattlemen/75(good luck if you are on the side by Cattlemen/75, I've heard/experienced the noise is horrendous- cars/motorcycles doing burnouts and speeding off) and a community that makes this place terrible to reside at. For the amount they're trying to charge there are dozens of other apartments in better areas, with better amenities, and without an abrasive/dangerous community. Everyone I know is not resigning their leases because of these rampant problems, look elsewhere for housing or you'll regret your decision."
