"I had a very uncomfortable visit at Naples Bay Dental this morning. I was in for my regular cleaning, which was excellent however, the events leading up to it were not so nice. Prior to the dental hygienist being able to do her job it was required that I have a visit from the office business manager, Tim. Tim’s position is for him to go over the cost’s associate to my dental visit today. Tim came across as a loud sales person which I was prepared for from a previous appointment. Although it was not true, I felt like I was being set up for a up sale pitch. He presented me with the cost of today’s visit, which did not coincide with the cost I have been quoted after my initial new patient appointment a few months prior. So he proceeded to bring out the fee guidelines related to the cost as of today. Once again, PRIOR to the dental hygienist, starting to work, Tim wanted to know how I would pay for today’s visit. At this time, I’m still sitting in the dental chair and felt extremely uncomfortable and offended with his request. I’m not sure where he thought I might be going, but I reluctantly provided him with my credit card. I told him I felt offended by his request for payment prior to any dental treatment being provided. My frustration was quite evident at this time, so Tim tried to convince me that many patients prefer to take care of their invoice in advance of treatment. Yet you would be expected to wait after your treatment to book your additional appointments prior to leaving. This was certainly laughable to me but by now I was quite upset and gave him my credit card, which he did not want to take. This event Although trivial now has me second-guessing my choice of being a patient at Naples Bay Dental. To be fair while preparing to pay for my bill, Tim advised that as a one time courtesy, they would honor what I believe to be the correct Charge of $79. Reluctantly, I accepted, but left the office Extremely disappointed, Frustrated And embarrassed. I have never been asked for payment while sitting in a dentist chair. I was very close to just getting up out of the chair and leaving. There are many options out there. Mr. Tim’s business approach and delivery to the patient are unacceptable in my opinion! Dr. Perez is excellent and is the only reason why I am contemplating continuing to be a patient. Hopefully, my comments make their way to her."
