"I wish I could give this place a negative star rating! In 2022 I filed my 2021 taxes here. I advised the agent that I was claiming my mother as a dependent. She told me that my mother didn’t qualify because she received too much money from social security. WRONG. As a result of this misinformation I ended up owing the IRS $900. A year later I returned to file my 2022 taxes. The agent told me that social security benefits are NOT taxable income. So I in fact can claim my mother. Lovely….I then asked about correcting the previous year. 1st no one in the office knew how to do an amended tax return. I had to come back several days in a row to catch 1 particular agent. Then I got with her and she seemed just as clueless. Took over a day to file the return. It’s finally done and they have the audacity to ask me for $175. I look at them confused because this was 100% their fault for advising me that I couldn’t claim my mother to begin with. The agent called her manager and they allowed me to pay $30 as if it was some kind of discount. They sent me on my way with a paper return to mail saying I would get $500 and so back. I mailed the return, waited over 20 weeks, just to find out that the amended tax was filed INCORRECTLY! There was nothing to adjust because nothing was changed! Do you know how angry I am that I have to start this process over?! H&R Block is incompetent and this location should be shut down. I also deserve a refund for my 2021 tax return that was missing my dependent, a refund for the amendment fee, AND money for the time and effort I have wasted on this issue that was caused by YOUR AGENTS being completely ignorant to policies regarding qualifying dependents."
