"Gardi & Gardi CPAs are not attentive to detail. Beware of using them for your taxes. After doing a family member's taxes for over 10 years, below are the mistakes that should not have occurred on their most recent tax return: 1) The same 1099 INT forms have been submitted to Gardi and Gardi for 9 of the past 10 years, however there was not any communication with my family member or myself about specific missing forms, even after I explained to Gardi that my family member is no longer capable of managing their own financial affairs and I would do my best to get Gardi everything I could find for their taxes. I did not get any specific questions about the missing forms from them. 2) Gardi had scheduled an estimated tax payment of $30K with the IRS in Jan, which the IRS automatically deducted from my family members account on Jan 17th. This estimated tax payment was unknown to me and my family member, who can no longer manage their affairs. Gardi did not include this estimated payment on the tax return. The outcome of the above two issues with my family member's tax return caused the following impact: When I reached out to Gardi to do an amended return for item #1 above - I was met with hostility, and a cost to do the amendment that was astronomically high. Basically, Gardi did not want to do the amendment to the tax return, even after 10 years of loyal business by my family member. We had to find a new accounting firm that did the amendment for less than half the cost than Gardi. For #2 above, the IRS had to issue a return of more than $30K because the penalties that Gardi added to the return were not due, since an estimated payment had been made and for taxes that my family member paid again - since Gardi did not include the estimated taxes that were paid. Essentially, my family member paid her taxes twice, good thing they could afford to do this. Questions have to be asked: Why had Gardi not used their accounting software to review prior year returns against this return - unknown? Why had Gardi not used their accounting software to see that estimated taxes had been paid to the IRS - unknown? Why does Gardi think it is ok to to make these type of mistakes- unknown? What if my family member could not afford to double pay taxes? Why does Gardi charge over $1000 to create a Federal Tax return, no state tax return was needed - since my family member lives in Florida? Why does Gardi not take responsibility for any of this?"
