I received a request from USCIS during my F1 application and took the letter to them, who has guided me ever since. She wrote to USCIS and sent along the documentation that I obtained from the school. Detail - she called the school coordinator directly to request the necessary statements to guarantee approval of the F1 request. The school, by itself, DID NOT explain to me what had happened for me to receive that late request from USCIS!!! And even less willingly provided a letter.
