"My family hired Heidi Friedman to manage the estate of my father and his now ex wife. My father is currently in an assisted living facility near penniless. He is 87 years old and left vulnerable, because, in my opinion, of Heidi Friedman. He will be cared for and looked after but without any of the resources he is entitled to. This is causing a massive strain on the family. If Heidi Friedman had spent some time with my father and truly got to know his situation she would really be able to accept how wrong she got it, she really did. She relied on unverified information, due to her poor judgement, lack of diligence, and generally let herself down. Her actions had a knock on effect on all parties negatively. She has failed my father on a scale she does not wish to comprehend nor admit."
"11/26/23: Heidi Friedman, Esq. couched my response as having a history of personal conflicts after she grossly harmed my father and my family. She has tried to cover up my reviews with personal ad hominem attacks - she has never met me personally. DO NOT HIRE THIS ATTORNEY - My experience could not have been worse and I have worked with attorneys in several states professionally and personally. She lost documents, misled my family on all avenues of strategy related to my father leaving my father in horrible financial shape, allowed undue influence to occur and refused to bow out when the representation ended. Heidi- you know this is not about my mother or her estate- in fact- she is in a worse situation than before thanks to you. *Updated 10.15.23 *** It is critical for anyone reading this it was Heidi Friedman, Esq. who put into motion actions that cost my elderly father dearly. My mother signed documents with Heidi she doesn't even remember- she says "that attorney- I paid another $6,000" to - she doesn't know Heidi's name at all.. As an attorney representing the disabled, I feel very strongly that Heidi Friedman is not an attorney to be recommended or retained for your elderly parents. She claims the Florida Bar ruled in her favor- she was so worried she retained an attorney to protect her filing multiple responses (usually you get 1) to defend herself. I know that reviewers can sometimes seem like disgruntled random individuals to be ignored (and in many cases that is true) - that is not the case here. Ms. Friedman took a $10,500 dollar retainer which was non refundable. She worked almost exclusively with me because it was easier for her to do so than actually work with my parents. My father was forced to appeal a basic application for Medicaid as a result of her "work". When I called her on it- I was on the receiving end of short shrift and later, accusatory and angry emails. By the way, she sells Medicaid and Spousal refusal as the "golden egg" - it's one Medicaid planning tool but not the only one. Spousal refusal gives, in part, incredible power to one spouse over the other and its critical to identify how the impact of that power might end if the couple doesn't have the same goals especially in a broken or difficult marriage. My experience is that Heidi Friedman doesn't think she has to do what is necessary ie. "get involved" (a flat fee means she cannot bill by the hour) in that aspect but it's critical because there are other ways to qualify for Medicaid without impoverishing one spouse at the hand of another. Even a basic review of good estate and planning attorneys' websites explains all of this. But those options weren't shared with my father. She touts "spousal refusal" as an option part of "Medicaid planning" - but it is one option. A good estate and planning attorney dealing with the elderly does their due diligence - they consider relevant history of the couple and their relationship, their specific individual needs, their finances- she did none of these things for my father. She took a retainer, relegated the large majority of the paper pushing to her staff who almost exclusively ignored my father and his needs and wishes. Again, void of any other real options discussed with my father, he was left destitute and the rest of our family was unnecessarily saddled with the burden of his expenses because of the actions she took with respect to him specifically. And there is so much more...this is not the appropriate forum. By the way in the months of representing my father- she met with him just about less than one hour. How's that for due diligence? Do your homework- reach out to me privately- I can give you a list of attorneys I believe have the care, compassion and will actually do the work to help your family - I wish I had hired them instead. As for any "government agency" stating my claims don't the merit- that "agency" has limited authority- court's of law don't have the same limited authority and Heidi knows that."
