Despite my suggestion that the mechanic check for a broken clutch pedal, they diagnosed my car with a failed clutch, which they offered to replace for roughly $1700. I had the car towed to MazdaPros in Hollywood, where they quickly diagnosed (suprise) a broken clutch pedal and fixed it. Total cost: $330."
