"Update Nov.. Not an exaggeration, my life put at risk due to work performed 03/2023, repeat attempts of returning expressing, This is what I'm hearing "Something is not right." Not ignorant having worked on vehicles over 40yrs. Update 11/21/23 Continue Service would have cause damages exceeding value of car! Hearing noise, Power Steering Reservoir not in holder, nearly empty! All fluid levels found low. Thermostat Housing cracked, leaking, had been for awhile. Toque/Motor/Trans Mounts all worn w/ 156K miles, 1 broken. 2 front Tires w/ less than 3500 miles destroyed form his work. From Caliper bolt breakdown, tire turned so hard took firewall area down to metal, damaged inside tire (not told), would have cause blowout. Caliper bolts/pins both sides BONE DRY. Damages, including further repairs overlooked will exceed 3K! I need to be compensated! Have to find receipts, believed charged for work not done. Because of an injury/illness driving less than 50 miles a month until able to get back to work. Now using car for work, driving 75-100 miles daily. Put off by Brian Thurs 08/31, "Give me a call Tues (09/05), but we'll be busy." Losing roughly $150. daily not feeling safe to use car for work resorted to, paying out of pocket for diagnosis on $1500.+ work preformed. Unable to resolve what wasn't right w/ front end. "Strut bolts were finger loose." Fixing this resolved knuckling noise hearing on roughly 80% of left turns. Mon 08/28 had gone to see Brian even though appointment 08/29. Issue not as prevalent after getting wet, rain predicted Tues. When arrived Brian outside, didn't want to speak to me, asking me to come back later. Called after 12:30 in area, allowed to come in, put off again and left. Brian then called me asking to come back and put car on the rack. Less than 10 mins, nothing wrong can be found. 2.5hrs later broke down south turn lane at Lena Rd & St Rt 64, roughly 1/2 mile from his Shop. At 10mph a crunch and wheel grinding to a stop. Have to consider, "What would have happened if I'd have been driving at hwy speed? What could have happened if strut dropped out at such speeds? 1. Stating he could call his Tow Truck guy, just add it to "my bill." Add to my bill when break down related to brake work done previously and a caliper bolt not being properly tightened, and repeatedly overlooked. 2. He could care a less that I was stranded on the road for over 2hrs, w/ a Sheriff behind me (not at all thrilled that I expressed, "Can't move it.") for 1.5hrs because of obstructing traffic. 3. Would not consider waiting 10-15 mins beyond closing so Tow Truck driver, I arranged, could put car inside, vs dropping outside when the front wheel was not able to roll without excessive grinding. 4. Over 2.5 days in his Shop, unable to work. Nothing can be found, and the same issue persisted. And being put off another 5 days. Likely cannot fully prove further damage resulting from brake caliper bolt for however long because work done in 2020, which resolved front end vibration 45-70mph, and loose strut bolts for six months. Although presently roughly another $1000. in parts and repairs. Plus, now suddenly the hood rod no longer holding, which would have been noticeable, not told about. Was fine 2 weeks ago. I also have no proof of Brian stating that he replaced the right axle a second time, because he provided no paperwork. Took a bit of time thinking about it. At least 3+yrs Brian's young son, other "kids" have been performing the work. Whether any of them are/were qualified during all this time is unknown. Although relating to requested work on mother's car, as well as two requests to replace a dash control switch on my car. Both times put off, "Just ran out of time." Can replace the switch myself, but there are certain types of work that are simply blown off. Not many know, if you have viable complaint w/ mechanic, you can file report w/ Dept of Agricultural. Was reimbursed over 2K from a complaint filed in 2014 by another mechanic. Highly recommend Brian to many over 3+yrs, will not return for any reason."
"I was quoted by a local car dealership $416 to replace my hood latch. I took it in to Brian and he had it fixed and working perfectly in 5 minutes. He was nice enough not to charge me a dime! I will recommend Lewis Automotive to anyone that needs service on their automobile!"
"I visited Lewis Automotive after receiving an outrageous quote on brakes elsewhere. Brian was happy enough to take me in on short notice and provided excellent service. I will be back in the future as the shop provided honest, affordable, and excellent service on my vehicle. I would not go anywhere else going forward."
"I had taken my Chevy Silverado twice to the dealer for a ignition issue. With no success, a friend recommended Lewis Automotive, I'm very glad he did. I went to see Brian at Lewis Automotive, wow one of the easiest guys to talk to. Anyway I left my truck for diagnostics, etc... Bottom line he repaired it the same day. He's been my go to guy now for a few years."
"Brian Lewis is an exceptional mechanic, and one of the most honest, straightforward independent mechanics I know. He tackles select projects that dealers would not touch, such as engine replacements. He goes out of his way to accommodate customers by personally shuttling them to and from home - for a small, independent shop, that is amazing. Brian tackles all different brands of cars, newer and older. His knowledge of air conditioning systems is incredible. He learned his trade in Detroit, America's automotive heartland! I highly recommend Brian Lewis Automotive."
