"Transmission that came from them was exactly what we needed. Working with them since then, nothing but pleasant. No problems, plenty of information needed that was shared, and pleasant staff. Thank you!!!!"
"I've dealt with several shops, this one stand above the rest. Great group, TONS of knowledge and experience."
"Great place for transmission work. I am a repeat customer and Steve is awesome to work with. This time I was lucky enough to buy when he had the smoker going and I got a rack of some of the best ribs! Thanks Steve!!"
"Stay AWAY! I called the tech prior to taking my transmission and it was stated he would only charge me for the part and his labor which shouldn't be more than a couple hundred dollars. Based on my knowledge of the work to be done it made sense since the part was approximately $20 and labor was an hour or two. I dropped off the transmission Monday and he was able to convince me that he was qualified based on our conversation and would do fair work for a fair price. Friday morning I called for a status update. He said he had just pulled it apart and that it was indeed the bushing but the part was on back-order and would take a month to get. Instead he was going to swap my tailhousing for one he had there with the correct bushing. I explained that all the serial and part numbers for the 1963 Corvette transmission are on the tailhousing which I wanted to keep original. He tried to convince me otherwise but I told him my preference and he agreed at the end of the call to remove the bushing from the other and put it in my transmission. To be clear this bushing was not new. By 3pm I was getting concerned because this work should not take that long to complete. The tech answered annoyed and I asked if he needed more time to let me know or if he needed me to get the part I would do the leg work. He raised his voice in frustration that he had it on the bench and was in the process of re-assembling it. I said ok and waited for his call. He called me promptly at 3:30pm to let me know it was ready and I told him I would be there shortly. Upon showing up to the shop the technician was obviously frustrated. He threw the transmission on a cart and started to roll it out to my truck while complaining I called 3 times that day slowing him down. When the office lady came to the door she gave me the bill for over $500. I asked why the charges were so much since the original discussion would be no more than a couple hundred? She stated that the tech had been working in the shop for 4 hours tearing down the transmission and made my transmission a priority and that he could have rebuilt other transmissions ahead of me making more money. I said he only removed the tailhousing and it wasn't a tear down which shouldn't have taken that long based on two other transmission shops I talked to. He went on to tell me he had my driveshaft checked for balancing and it was fine and that my yoke needed replaced. I never requested a balancing check on the driveshaft. Our discussion on the driveshaft was around an area that was chipped and I wanted the universal joints replaced and pressed in, which was not done. After going back and forth I asked for an itemization of the bill so I could understand the charges but the office woman went on again about how much time he spent on it and that they don't usually do transmission repairs. Again I asked how they came to the amount and asked what they were charging for an hourly billing rate but she refused to respond. At this point my transmission and driveshaft are being held hostage until I pay. The bill had only two line items for a $500 charge and taxes. Nothing about driveshaft balancing, nothing about hours, nothing about part costs. At this point I had no choice but to give her a payment from my credit card and she said out loud as she walked across the room "that people want everything for free nowadays". I responded saying I was told a price and you changed it with no details explaining why to justify them. I said I cannot recommend this place to others and she said we don't need your recommendation because we have plenty of work. The only reason I went to this shop was it was recommended to me by another transmission shop that did not work on manual transmissions. I called them back after the experience and explained what I was charged and he was shocked and could do nothing but apologize. I suggested he did not send other customers there due to the questionable business practices and ethics when it comes to valid billing and standing behind their initial estimate."
"STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. I HAD MY TRANSMISSION FIXED THREE TIMES BY STEVE. DID NOT REPLACE ITEMS AS HE STATED AT $2,500. LAST TIME THE TRANSMISSION DID NOT LAST 1000 MILES. SEE BORNE 2 BUILD FOR VIDEOS OF THE PARTS AND WHAT WAS FOUND DURING DISASSEMBLE.."
