"took my jeep here for an issue i wasn't sure about. we were told they do free diagnostics and they'd go from there. okay cool, right? no. we were told the transmission was completely shot and needed to be rebuilt, which would cost $2500+ before labor and any other issues found. after a few days of thinking, we decided not to allow AAMCO to work on our vehicle and we took it to another mechanic. we asked for AAMCO’s written diagnostic and it stated that the transmission fluid "smelled burnt and someone added an additive." this right here was the confirmation that we made the right choice by not allowing them to work on the jeep. the day before we took it to AAMCO, we had 2 family/friend mechanics check the transmission and they both said there was absolutely nothing wrong with the fluid, so they weren't sure if it was the whole transmission itself or something else, but neither of them added anything into the fluid. we took it to another mechanic and just received a call stating that the transmission is in great shape and it was just missing 2 small parts. $800 total. i understand that this is a business, but lying to people for more money is just wrong."
