"How many times can one use the words “FIVE STAR” without feeling that it no longer really means anything? The “Star” rating system has become so inflated that a five star rating means less and less with each passing day. So, why am I writing a review? Well, it comes down to this - inflated or not, there are those experiences that one has in buying goods and services when that which was purchased is so good, so beyond the expected, that the buyer is doing a disservice to both the vendor and the buying public by failing to make note of the experience. When my wife and I decided to come back to Clearwater after living, for 30 years, in California, we bought a house that was in good shape, but whose pool patio needed a bunch of work, from cleanup pressure washing to resealing. We anticipated that this was not going to be an inexpensive job. Frankly, we did not know what the finished product would look like. We had never undertaken such a project despite having owned several houses with pools. Finding the right people to do the job was not easy. But local friends of our has just had similar work done, and recommended the company (THC) that did their work. The work for which we asked an estimate was far more than just pressure washing. After going over the scope of work I held my breath, waiting for the number. It was a good thing that I did, because I was so shocked that might well have forgotten how to breath. The estimate was for far less than the lowest that we had thought possible. Not being really stupid, we accepted the estimate and hired TRC to do the work. During the course of the job we found add-ons that were needed, so we were given an estimate for each additional tasks. As with the overall job, the estimates were lower than what we expected. As a business consultant for many years, I learned that there are four possible outcomes to a contract. The first is that the customer pays the agreed amount and the work is never done. This is called rip-off. The next is that the customer pays the agreed amount, and the work is partially done. The next is that the customer pays the agreed amount and the company does precisely what they agreed to do - no more, no less. For the post part, people operate in this state of fair exchange. But there is a fourth possible outcome, far less common, but far more desirable. The customer pays the agreed amount but the company does, or delivers much more than what was agreed, either in the quantity of work done, or in its quality. Our experience with TRC was that we received this fourth level of service. There were things that we had not even noticed that enhanced the outcome of the job. These were done without any request for an increase in the price of the work. The patio looks better than we ever thought that it could. The screened enclosure looks like it was just installed. One of the add-ons that we did request and pay for was the pressure washing of all of our windows. Wow! We found out that it is lighter during the day than it is at night!! We are so impressed that we offer, not just a word-of-moth review, but a “word-of-eye” review as well. THP is welcome to showcase the work that they did hear, should they wish to do so. Many of us are familiar with the Latin term caveat emptor (LET THE BUYER BEWARE). Normally that is intended to warn people away from dealing with a company. In this case, we mean BEWARE OF HIRING SOMEONE OTHER THAN THP TO GET YOUR WORK DONE. Don’t even bother calling anyone else. USE THP. You cannot go wrong."
