Reviews of Pop Ash Creek Preserve
"A small preserve off the beaten path. We enjoyed the scenery and the trails appeared nicely kept. On the Northeast side of the preserve sits a bench that has proper shade and overlooks the water. It's a must to see. The wildlife is present, just depends on what time you visit. As with any SWFL preserve, be prepared for the bugs. When we arrived the rain moved in which quickly dissipated... plenty of forest tree shelter is available as well."
"Awesome trail! Easy free parking right onsite. So many different water views made this such an enjoyable hike for me! I saw an alligator, rabbit, deer, birds, and a funny bird that hopped away! Will definitely be back!"
"Trails are easy to follow. You can easily access the ponds which are the most enjoyable part to see at the preserve. However, parts of trail further in are flooded/muddy even in dry season. No facilities. Horses allowed."
"Decided to try this preserve on a beautiful but foggy March morning with mom. First time checking this place out for a hike. Paths aren't really marked but we did follow the equestrian path around the lake. We did 2 loops around for about 4 miles total. A few benches to sit around the lake to observe nature. Saw cardinals, robins, herons, a wood stork and heard a large splash which we assume was a gator we spooked. Very open area and would be too hot and flooded in the summer, but was dry when we went. Nice area to walk in nature. Will definitely go back in the fall. This is an important watershed area I'm glad to see being protected. Thank you Lee County."
"You have to appreciate the counties effort to restore land back to natural habitat instead of selling everything for development. Great place for hiking, photography and wildlife viewing. Check out the Facebook page for conservation 2020 as they're always having free programs inside their various preserves to get you outside and see the benefits of preserving land like this."
