About the Celery Fields
Located at 6799 Palmer Boulevard in Sarasota, Florida, Celery Fields is a 400 acre park that serves as Sarasota County's primary storm water collection zone. This public institution is a haven for diverse bird species, making it a popular spot for wildlife watching and passive recreational activities. The wetlands restoration project completed in 2011 saw the planting of over 200,000 aquatic plants and trees, as well as the installation of two boardwalks for visitors to explore the natural beauty of the area. The Celery Fields offer opportunities for walking, biking, fishing, kayaking, and wildlife viewing. The site is also home to the Sarasota Audubon's Nature Center, where visitors can learn more about the local ecosystem and start their outdoor adventures. With its rich history as a former celery farm and its importance as a habitat for various bird species, Celery Fields is a must-visit destination for nature enthusiasts and outdoor lovers.

Reviews of Celery Fields
"I love walking with my dog at Celery Fields! It's a great place to clear your head, even when it's busy there's space for everyone and there's lots of terrain variety with the easier base or hill to climb. Excellent views from the hill too."
"Celery fields is actually a big hill with some walking trails. It was actually surprising to see a hill since most of Florida terrain is flat. On top of the hill there are some nice views. I only saw one bench for sitting. On the bottom of the hill there are restrooms. There is plenty of parking spaces and it’s free."
"Excellent walking, jogging, and (moreover) birding opportunities... great for kids and small groups. Mobility-aids accessible; terrific for your pet-friendly walking/paths. Boardwalk observation areas, wetlands, flora and fauna. Various wildlife on this property as well as sightings on immediately-adjacent properties. Ample parking; restrooms."
"Great hiking, stunning views! Celery Fields is a hidden gem that took my breath away. The serene atmosphere, picturesque views, and abundant wildlife make it a nature lover's paradise. Whether you're walking, jogging, or simply enjoying a peaceful picnic, you'll be captivated by the beauty of this place."
" I took a hike at the Celery Fields today. Before the white man, this was a Native American site. Then, for many years, it was a farm growing vegetables , especially celery. The hill is 80 feet high. This is also a Audubon nature Center."
