Reviews of Lake Pithlachocco Trailhead - Newnans Lake State Forest
"At last one place to get fun on my MTB bike near home. Also I could learn something about ancient American history. Plenty of nature and fresh air. Perfect plan for any day."
"An easy 2.5 mi loop that heads to an observation point along Newnans Lake (previously named Lake Pithlachocco) and the archaic canoe display. There is a parking lot along the West side of NE 55th Blvd, almost directly across from the entrance to the NFETC (North Florida Evaluation and Treatment Center, look for the sign). The actual trail heads through several different forest canopies with lots of opportunities to hear/see birds and potential to see other wildlife or identify tracks. There's a slightly steep bridge when you first enter the trail, and further up you'll encounter a right/left fork that starts the loop. The left fork is a slightly shorter walk to the lake shore viewpoint. There's a 5 mile bike trail that intersects and weaves in and out of the hiking trail; both trails are well marked."
"Great bike ride. Nice view of the Lake. Few slippery roots made us slow down some."
"Great trail. They have 2: one for hikers (2.5 miles) and one for mountain bikers (5.5 miles). Trails are clearly marked and marked often. You'll go through various ecosystems. Nice view of Lake Newnan. I would consider the trail easy/moderate. Moderate slowly for the roots you encounter hiking."
"nice 2.5 mile walk in the woods, ends at a place near the water, got a couple picnic tables and the replica canoe display."
