"Awesome place to have lunch right on the lake. Enjoyed talking to several locals while we had our lunch"
"Great spot right on highway 301 with gorgeous waterfront views, a fishing dock, a boat ramp, picnic tables, playground, and relatively clean restrooms. Perfect for a day out in nature or for travelers to take a break and get a breath of fresh air."
"We have stopped here a couple of times to have lunch. Nice scenery but the restroom could use some work. When we visited the soap container was torn off the wall"
"Had a nice shady lunch, fed the feral cats and watched the ants walk off with scraps of potato chips. This is a nice, quiet and clean place to stop. Directly off 301. Operating restrooms which were clean...if a bit odorous."
"This park is next to lake that has a boat slip. There's also a wooden "boardwalk" type of lake overlook where we see some people fishing. Haven't seen anyone take a boat out there yet. The water is muddy / dark so be careful of gators. My husband and I have seen 1 or 2 gator heads while they're swimming in the middle of the lake. Haven't seen any gators on shore, but the reeds are high so you never know if there's one around. There is sometimes trash in the water, which we pick up with gloves if it's close enough to reach, but otherwise the park is minimally maintained so there are wrappers and cans occasionally, which are usually gone by our next visit. There are a several concrete picnic tables on the right and left side of the park when you enter. There are also restrooms available, but I've never checked them out. The park has a playground on the far right that is usually empty so it's great if you just want to stretch your arms on the jungle gym / monkey bars. Remember to bring wipes / sanitizer and gloves since the bars sometimes have bird poop or dirt on them. This park is not usually crowded when we go, but if there are too many people fishing or hanging out at the picnic area, we just go to Hawthorne Park, which is off the highway towards the Gainesville area."
