"WATERMELON SPRING (not Sunbeam or whatever certain bureaucrats want to try and label it incorrectly as) is the finest spring in all of Florida. Legend in fact has it that watermelons used to rise up from the spring to nourish thirsty travelers on the river. Now, in the spirit of the legend, traveled along the river wedge their watermelons in the spring for a cool snack! Anyone who posts negatives things about Watermelon Spring has serious issues."
"Not to be confused with Ponce's "Fountain of Youth," Watermelon Spring is by far the best spring on the Santa Fe river if you're fortunate enough to catch it when the water level is just right. It's a very exclusive spring, and legend has it that watermelons rise from its depths to rehydrate and nourish those certain campers who so believe in its extraordinary powers. A must visit when trekking down the Santa Fe. EDIT: This spring is located within the banks of the Santa Fe River and is only accessible to those on the river. SECOND EDIT: If you really want to trust a guy (yes, I'm talking to you, "Ryan S.", if that's even your real name) who reviews Flying J gas stations and takes time to talk about "the nicest Walmart [he's] ever been to" - as if this will make or break another's decision to go to or refrain from going to said Walmart, by all means, don't "waste your time." However, if you want to visit a legitimate place that's been dubbed "Heaven on Earth" by at least seven credible - VERY credible - professionals, then you need to go get your toes wet at Watermelon Spring."
"Watermelon Spring provides a juicy slice of Old Florida. Scholars maintain that her name is derived from native folklore involving the region’s earliest peoples. Her slow-moving waters keep a watchful eye on the past and offer visitors a taste of the rich history that helped bear the name. Pay no attention to the hogwash spewed by “Local Guide” Ryan S. Experience this hidden gem for yourself."
"If you paddle the Santa Fe River and do not make time to experience Watermelon Springs, the sting of regret may be too much to bear. Dipping into this fountain of fresh water is as rejuvenating as it is restorative. I read a number of reviews on this prize before experiencing its glory for myself. One individual who claimed to be a "local guide" had half a wit to compare this refreshing natural hangout to an estavelle, or in layman's terms, a sinkhole. Such harsh criticism for Columbia County's finest watering hole could only be coming from someone who would also find fault in the cleanliness of a Busy Bee bathroom. Not to be trusted."
"This beautiful and exclusive spring is accessible only by water, do not try to drive to this spring as certain other reviewers who will remain unnamed may or may not have tried to do. If you float down the Santa Fe the right time of year this little hidden gem is the perfect spot to stop off and take a cool refreshing dip. Swim your watermelon down a few feet and wedge it in for a cool summer snack! Edit: apparently some people don't think this spring isn't worth your time to visit. Well some people are stupid! If you are floating down the majestic Santa Fe, only a fool would pass up the opportunity to refresh one's self in the crisp clean water emanating from Watermelon Spring. While it's true this spring is only visible when the river level drops below a certain height, it's definitely worth taking a chance on! If you disagree then maybe you should go back to writing 3 star reviews about the average experience you had at Applebee's two years ago, Ryan."
