"I bought a blowout Groupon for my birthday and set up an online appointment with a random stylist as I’ve never been to this location. I was called a couple hours before my appointment where I was informed the stylist I booked with was not available but another stylist was, I said okay as I did not really care. My appointment was at 6pm and after having some conversation I found out my stylist was due to leave at 7pm. I suppose that’s why I felt like my hair was being rushed on. I have thick curly hair and comments were being made the entire time about how much hair I had which made me feel a bit insecure. My stylist didn’t even seem to condition my hair or apply any products prior to starting my blowout and was rushing through it. Maybe I’m spoiled from Dominican blowouts, but normally when I do get a blowout they make it pin straight and smooth. When he was done with my hair, it was still wavy at the ends, poofy, and he barely passed a straightener through it. He added a bit of hair oil which did nothing. He finished right before 7 so I felt like he just wanted to complete it as fast as possible. It’s not my fault that a service got scheduled for you right at the end of your shift. It was made in advance and you weren’t even the stylist originally selected, so why did I have to suffer? I was very upset as it was for my birthday so I could be worry free and have my hair done better than I could do it at home. Unfortunately it was just the same as if I did my hair on my own. I didn’t say anything at the salon because I did not want to cry. I even mentioned to my stylist how I have a hard time trusting salons based on my experience as a curly haired girl and unfortunately this again has cemented my fear of salons. Another worker complimented my hair and asked if I would be rebooking, I said no and that stylist gave me a crazy face like I insulted her. Sorry, but I typically only get this service on special occasions. I felt like this was very rude and presumptuous behavior. I ended up having to go home and straighten over my hair as it was still curly on the ends and looking a wreck. I ended up 30 minutes late to my reservation due to this. Even brushing my hair you could hear the tangles and by the end of the night my hair looked worse than if I had done it on my own. I was very heartbroken as I rarely get to spoil myself. Looks like another birthday disappointment. I won’t be returning, sorry."

"Ask for Jenny when you book! My husband and I have been in Tampa for almost 7 years now and he won’t let anyone else cut his hair! I recently had a baby and went to see her for my first appointment postpartum. She made me feel like a new woman! We love Jenny! ❤️"

"I am so glad that my hairdresser, Jenny Hankins has moved to the J.C. Penney Salon at Westshore mall since the Regis Salon at International Mall closed in December 2022. Still a very convenient drive for me and the ability to park right outside the Salon next to the pizza place is very convenient. No walking through the mall to get to the salon. I have been going to Jenny for years. She is the best hair stylist and color expert ever!!"

"The manager Zan was very rude, unprofessional, and hung up on me. It was a simple issue that could have been resolved in house, but she started telling me how she was on PTO and just getting back and said that I kept speaking over her... She is a very poor representation of JC Penny and should be retrained."

"I’m not the type of person who would normally go to JC Penney’s for hair. Not that there is a problem with JCP but I typically go to salons that cater to a younger population, are swanky and expensive. That being said I was in Tampa for the day, and my hair needed some help. I couldn’t get in anywhere last minute so I just decided to go with it when I saw jcp had openings. I read a good review of Daisy and just went with her, hoping for the best. We’ll let me tell you-Daisy was the best hair stylist I’ve ever had. She was sweet, attentive, took her time. She gave me an awesome cut, root touch up, highlights and toner. My hair looks and feels amazing. She also gave me the best hair washing I’ve ever had. She is so thorough and really checks her work. I’m not kidding-I will be back to see her-and I live 2 hours away haha! I highly recommend her."
