RCMA

RCMA, located at 500 East Interlake Boulevard in Lake Placid, Florida, is an institution that offers free childcare and VPK programs that go beyond traditional daycare by providing dual language early childhood education in a safe and loving environment. In addition to their childcare programs, RCMA also operates two free K-8 charter schools, with plans for three more in the future.

Founded in Highlands County in 1979, RCMA now has seven Child Development Centers in Avon Park, Sebring, and Lake Placid, serving over 390 children ages 6 weeks to 5 years old. Children with disabilities are integrated into age-appropriate classrooms, and families are encouraged to be actively involved in decision-making at the centers.

RCMA provides ongoing training for teachers and family support staff, and works with community partners to address emergency needs of families. However, more resources are needed to continue expanding services to families and children in the area.
