Reviews of Golisano Children's Hospital of Southwest Florida Emergency Department for Kids
"Wait time was horrible which i was prepared for bc the lobby was so packed. Finally got in the back, doctor comes in asks me what’s going on I tell her and she explains to do everything that I’m already doing at home for my baby which was very frustrating to me bc I’m expecting her to give me an actual solution rather than sticking to my home remedies. I feel like she was no help and just trying to rush us out to get through the next patient bc of how busy they are. Nurse Olivia comes in and treated us so much better! She was so helpful and sent us home with things that will help my baby. I appreciated her so much for that and he’s doing a little better thanks to her. 10 stars ⭐️ for nurse Olivia at Golisano Children’s emergency side"
"Go all the way around the hospital as you come through the drive to get to the Children’s ER entrance. There will be a driveway up to the second floor, free parking. Got there at 12:30p on a weekday, almost full lobby, left at 8:45pm. Got seen about 3p into a room, more details below. 4-4.5 stars for Care, but be aware about wait times and how long you will be there. As far as ER goes, they would be 4.5-5stars. It’s hard to rate an ER, because every moment is different, and can be different for every patient and their families as there are so many moving parts. But as far as how much one may dread going to an ER, or would be naturally anxious or scared of going into one for illness or injury, this one would be a much better experience than going to a traditional emergency room. Especially since they are just for kids/children, that already makes it a lot better than a normal ER or Urgent care. They have more skills and knowledge here than going to one of those late night UC places that has a semi-trained staff. That being said, if you have the chance to prepare mentally and physically for the ER wait, I would do so in advance. The whole experience was my first one so I can’t compare it to anything besides what I saw as a kid passing thru an ER and what I heard about how long the wait can be from others. I was super anxious going in as I didn’t know what to expect, but they guide you with the basics. You’ll check in, they’ll ask you for your ID and insurance card. Once they get all of your details in (if it’s your first time), they will ask you about all of the symptoms and what’s going on. They will enter it all in, and there will be a nurse looking over each incoming patient’ info so that they can Triage and determine what needs to be done and in what order in reference to the other patients who are already there. Of course any emergency situations will be taken care of first, regardless of who came in first. In our case after we did the registration, a nurse checked part of my child’s vitals with stethoscope to see what their condition was. After that I waited a little while. Then they called me up again to go in and do the rest of their vitals (weight, temp, O2), and waited a bit inside the ER (vs the waiting room)"
"Daughter was here for a kidney infection. Everyone took wonderful care of her and they got us out right before the holiday so she could be home for Thanksgiving!"
